2009 Western Conference First Round Game 4, April 25 2009 | After a dismal 5-24 outing and missing the game-winning three pointer in game 3, Kobe Bryant entered EnergySolutions Arena looking to take the life out of the Utah Jazz as soon as possible. Kobe was sizzling from the opening tip, hitting contested jump shot after contested jump shot. After one of the worst playoff performances in his career, Kobe connected on 16 of his 24 shot attempts en route to a 38 point night while placing the Jazz in a 3-1 deficit and sending them to the brink of elimination. The Lakers controlled much of the game and won convincingly 108-94.

Those shots are just ridiculous. He made them look easy.

LOL I remember this game. Kobe had a bad previous game and they called Brewer a "Kobe Stopper." Well they never called him that again. Kobe killed the Jazz every year.

Who else is reliving Kobe’s immense collection of highlights?

RIP Mamba, Mambacita, and all other victims of the tragic accident. 🐐🐍🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

I love how the best compliment Dorris Burke could give was that Kobe reminded her of LeBron tonight...and then that his crossover reminded her of Michael Jordan's. Since when does LeBron have more of a killer instinct than Kobe? The NBA has always been biased towards its poster children: MJ and LeBron. Kobe Bryant was just so unstoppable in his prime that he forced his way into the conversation.

No dorris, not even lebron out works kobe. Kobe was psychotic for the game, completely fixated on basketball

It's not just the 38 pts but the way he did it hitting incredible jumpers! And especially the timing, the very next game after having a terrible shooting night in game 3

Most underrated performance of his career. As a Jazz fan, he absolutely sucked out our hopes this game.

I love it when Kobe stuck it to the Jazz and their fans. Just remember you laughed at him as a rookie in the 1997 NBA Playoffs with his air balls. Then comes back to destroy anyone who defend him in the Playoffs.

I remember this game, watching it at bdubs in 8th grade with my basketball team after we got 4th in State (IN) tournament. There was no volume of course but I swear every time I looked up, Kobe was drilling another fadeaway with somebody draped all over him. Just pure art and skill. Killer. Lebron does his damage by athleticism and strength. Kobe does it by painting a picture, despite pain/struggle/pressure. Kobe > LBJ

Ronnie Brewer still has nightmares of this game to this day.

That's why I love Kobe. I clearly remember how he sucked in GM3, but it doesn't matter cuz it's Kobe who always could come back to save the day!

When i found out that Kobe passed away. I LITERALLY dropped my phone and was speechless. Kobe is a player we are never gonna see again.

As well respected as Doris Burke is, she lost her mind trying to compare LBJ’s work ethic to Kobe... there was no one, at that time, who was more hungrier and determined to win a title than Kobe Bryant and he was a man on a mission not just in this game but the entire playoffs. He took it upon himself to remind everyone of his killer instinct and torch every single one of his opponents on every possession... the most skilled scorer/player this game has ever seen. He was the complete package, he had no weaknesses... can’t make them like the Mamba anymore. ✊
