♦ Sims 2 vs Sims 3 vs Sims 4 : PlantSims

Hello everyone!

This is a brief comparison on the most important aspects of plant sims in the latest 3 Sim games.

Plant Sims were introduced in Sims 2 with seasons as some sort of epidemic if you ask me because your sim becomes one just if they overuse pesticides...quite interesting huh? Their name is pretty self explanatory...They're a plant simulator...And it seems people like them because ever since Sims 2 they've been making a comeback, the most recent was about a month ago when EA gave them as a challenge with the latest patch. Basically you had to talk to plant Sims to get beans to get a portal to look for the forbidden fruit, at least that's what I've seen...But I didn't do the challenge to be honest...Oops? Remember since this is free content it's very short and some say they make a comeback but no one knows for sure.

So anyways, here's the comparison and I hope I didn't let anything important out.

My opinion?

Sims 2: These came with seasons and I like how they made this as some sort of punishment for using pesticides..Although, I can only imagine you have to do this on purpose since you have to use them about 15 times! So a plant Sim is no accident if you ask me...but I like the concept, what I don't like is that their life is SO much shorter than a normal Sim's. But their abilities are good enough and they're fun to control.

Sims 3: This time they came with University and they're some sort of "failed" experiment, this is the introduction of the forbidden fruit and every Sim who dares to eat it will become a plant Sim. I do like their abilities here better than in Sims 2 and I like how they keep their lifespan with 6 stages and 3 unique outfits for Plant Sims.

Sims 4: I guess this one was supposed to be fun because of the challenge but if I were them I would've let the challenge be a thing..forever (the other games kinda had them as a challenge because being a plant sim is not easy). Now the only way to get them is with cheats and they don't get special clothing or special abilities...just special...hair? and needs. It's a little short in comparison to its predecessors but then again it's free. I just hope they take them into consideration for future expansions...maybe in seasons they'll have more interactions or they'll very useful to keep plants alive on a dry summer or something. But one can only hope...

So for me it'd be Sims 3's clothing, lifespan and abilities mixed with Sims 2's interactions and ways to reproduce (I love making babies that easily)

Yet again.. Sims 2 is the backbone for all future sims games it seems, Sims 3 is always the deepest, and Sims 4 is.. uh.. well its pretty at least.

I am seeing so many people going “it was a FREE update” lol yeah but a free update to an unfinished game we paid at least 40 dollars for (in most cases, the deluxe edition at launch went for like 60 bucks).

The Sims 2 will forever be my big love. I still remember the cool nights when I was 12 with the humming of my grandma's computer in the background. God I miss it.

Sims 2 for how they reproduce and Sims 3 for total life cycle. Plantsims in TS4 just suck

- The Sims 3, THE WINNER. They went all in with new interactions, reproduction and ways to get sun and water

Edit: I see a lot of people saying that it was just a patch. Guys, I know that. I was just referring to the fact that even if the challenge was very complete the plant sims didn't have that much content. They could've, at the very least, given the plant sims some little designs and some cool interactions. That's literally all I'm asking for.

In The Sims 3, if you are in University, you can sign up to be a "Science Test Subject". It may not happen the first time, but after a testing round, you will get the botanis minotirous moodlet and will turn into a plant sim. Easiest and Fastest way in my opinion :)

The way I see it, the Sims 2 has the best gameplay value. It has funny options and is all over quirky. It's left an example for the other two.
The Sims 3 is very large and deep. There's always something to do and somewhere to go. Perfect for long lasting generations.
The Sim 4 is pretty. There's certainly more realism, especially in the facial expressions and toddlers. But all of their efforts seem to have went into character creation, and not gameplay. There's really not much to do outside of home, no more bookstores or markets. You can't even see where you work! The sims 4 I feel was only made to keep up with the times. But it could change, it could be better. We'll just have to wait.
All in all though I like the way the Sims 3 plant mod best.

Sims 2 and 3 both have unique perks to them, so it's a tough choice between those two. I think I might go with 3 due to their more involved interactions, but 2 still has some neat stuff like the flower-head. Pretty minor thing, but it makes them more... plantlike than just a person covered in leaves and stuff. Especially since it actually has a function, that is to spread pollen.
4 loses by a wide margin obviously, they didn't even try.
...Also, is nobody gonna mention that toddler plantsims in Sims 2 are cannibals? Kinda disturbing. Ah, I really wish Sims 3 and 4 were as metal... 3 is my favourite, but even without having played 2 I know it has a lot of stuff I'd love to see in more recent Sims games.

They could literally update Plant Sims to become a base game occult to add more interesting gameplay and also so people can have at least one occult starting off.

I miss sims 3. I remember I was always so excited when I got a expansion pack. I was so excited when I got pets, supernatural, into the future, island paridise, and generations! Eventually I got all the expansion packs cause I love sims 3 SO much (I did not get the stuff packs though cause I could never find them at my local target)! I got pets, supernatural, into the future, island paradise, seasons, university, ambitions, late night, showtime, generations, and the one where you could go to China, Egypt, and another place. I used to play sims for hours and hours and my mom hated it because I played on her computer. I watched lets plays on sims even more. My favorite you tuber to watch was life simmer. But now every one plays sims 4 and ignores sims 3☹️. I wish sims 3 was popular again
