Great video. I used to get discouraged because I couldn't hit the home run sort of speak. For example, if my movement wasn't perfect, I would get discouraged and frustrated. Now I understand that any movement is good. Yesterday I went to my personal training session, and he said it doesn't matter if the arm or leg moves perfectly, he said just think about it and try to activate the movement. He had me lay on my stomach and try to lift my leg up, it wasn't moving but the time we got to the 3rd set, I felt a tiny twitch. He said my foot was moving even though I didn't even realize it. He also had me lift my foot off the ground, while sitting down in a chair. These movements require tons of focus, trying to get the brain to activate those muscles, and any movement is good. we did a few sets, by the time we got to set 3, my foot was moving a lot more. This gave me so much confidence. I was riding the exercise bike also. Something I was unable to do a year ago without my leg falling to the side. I'm glad I signed up for a trainer, it's costly but worth it for me.

Thank you so much for sharing, Ms. Tobias! This makes so much sense and answers a couple of questions for me. 😆 Thank you so much for all that you do!

The beginning of the video confused me, but later I understood the reason. Immediately after rehabilitation, I had one loss of balance in the larger community, I didn't fall, I just felt it and it held me back for a long time. I persistently continued to walk and eventually it stopped. I have no mental problems, no trauma, and I can learn explicitly and implicitly, so this way suits me. Thanks for the explanation, I look forward to learning more. Nice week.

Absolutely spot on .my team are brilliant, and understand when I don't do it perfectly, but am still walking and exercising my legs, also the harness on a treadmill is completely counter intuitive as one leg moves easier and faster than the other. I am not at the stage where this is helpful.and yes I get really frustrated.it takes time to achieve the different levels and should be done at your own level.

Thank you for this video! It’s very timely for me, as I plan to walk today in order to practice proper gait. Does your recommendation change for people with neuro degenerative disorders vs stroke? I have an extremely rare condition called primary lateral sclerosis.

Simply said, you forget how to sit or stand properly, walk with a smooth motion! You feel a disconnect with your body. Its difficult and frustrating.

I’m 6 years post stroke and the therapy I had was not helping when they throw you on a machine and just leave and not see them until your time is up
