Another interesting thing about Zhongli, at the end of Liyue Quest at the Northland Bank, he says "I've *dwelt* upon this world for more than 6000 years" and not "I've lived for more than 6000 years", kind of implying it's been 6000 years since he arrived to Teyvat, not when he was born.

Remember from the 2nd story quest of Zhongli that "Rocks can store memories too but time to time those memories eroded" but think of it, Zhongli is the lord of Geo and knows everything from his experience. He knows the secret of everything and yet he's bound by a contract to silence himself from telling the truth. he's just dropping some clues in order for us slowly to get the truth of Teyvat. Just like Yanfie says "we can find and use the holes of a contract". He's helping us on he's own way without breaking the contract. And someday will know the truth of Teyvat.

Zhongli is also (to my knowledge) the only character who’s story quest name doesn’t match their constellation at all. His constellation is “Lapis Dei” but his story quest is called “Historia Antiqua”

Zhongli is just built different, so different that he can tank all the change that comes with Teyvat reality changes. If he really is a Descender, then it makes sense why he is considered (at his prime) to be the strongest Archon. You don't live 6000 years because you are weak

Ok... it has been over a year since I made this comment and the two replies I made to this comment. What drugs was I on?? I was cooking? I cooked! I cooked so much lore. Some things I noticed:
1. The things changed from zhongli's entry is not the same.... From the original seven up to position of "rulership". Which Nahida isn't really in a position of power, even up until the traveller's intervention she's more of a symbol of knowledge rather than a ruler as the Sages more or less do the ruling.
2. If zhongli is a descender, why the need for an another descender to record history? Erosion? But wouldn't that mean that other descenders are also prone to erosion? Traveller? Or much more abyss twin?

With that I thought.. Considering Zhongli knows Venti... I think this is more of that they are somewhat aware in the same way Nahida can remember scaramouche from a simple story that will make them recognize that something has changed. They're finding ways to hide stuff from irminsul, probably venti uses his bard songs. Zhongli engraving it on the earth (I guess) but well, by meeting the traveller, Zhongli just put his faith on traveller recording the history of teyvat.

Zhongli still suffers from erosion. I think he has a similar story as the sibling, where he got integrated into Irminsul at some point and now can't leave Teyvat anymore.

I also think Mihoyo gives us a hint that Zhongli will take a part in our future journey in Ei's voice line about Zhongli, she says "So he made his choice, but I don't think his journey will end yet", as with that I believe Zhongli will take an important part in the future, just my theory.

I think his contract (the one why he can't tell us about our twin) is also linked with him being a descender. I assume it says something amongst the lines of: "You know about the changes in Teyvat's history but are not in any way shape or form allowed to talk about knowing the truth with anyone (which includes descenders)." We also know that there is something wrong about the info of our twin in Irminsul, because the traveler has been to other worlds with them before arriving in Teyvat. I'm not sure why the history about our twin was changed but what is important is that Zhongli knows about it, knows about our twin, but isn't allowed to talk about the matter due to his contract with I assume the heavenly principles.

I'm a huge fan of the "Zhongli is a Sun Prince" theory, if you haven't heard of it, look it up. I feel like this goes hand in hand with it. Perhaps he was disowned by celestia, and since he was originally a celestial god, wasn't connected with irminsul. This is why there is no one left to share his memories, everyone else surrounding him is subject to that change. So he's completely aware but can't tell anyone or else Liyue goes boom

Also in Xiao’s second character story, it states: Rex Lapis liberated the yaksha and gave him the name “Xiao. In the fables of *another land*, the name Xiao is that of a spirit who encountered great suffering and hardship.”
