One thing I like about Fedora is their app store. Sure they use the default gnome-software package for that. But when comparing all software stores in linux distros (manjaro, popos, ubuntu, elementary, zorin, fedora, yada yada yada...) my best experience would be with Fedora's gnome-software application. The app presentation and availbe software just looks professional and feels like a finished product, whereas everything else (well, maybe take out elementary here) looks unfinished or you stumble across nitpicks like duplicate software entries, software categories without any presentation but rather a lackluster A-to-Z sorting and just overall a very basic and/or bad experience. Fedora feels premium in its app store. Many good software, well presented, nice looking software categories, polish.

Did not mention that Ubuntu is using Gnome 41.3 according to your screenshot vs Fedora running Gnome 42.0

I prefer more bleeding edge so fedora would be better for me. But that is also a reason for me to stick with archlinux. And on my laptop I have debian, because it's 12 years old

If it was Ubuntu who was running 300mb more at startup, the ubuntu haters would be all over that. But because it's Fedora with the 300mb more at startup, "It must be optimizing". At least this channel isn't a ubuntu hater channel.

Tried the Fedora, it installed correctly to the nvme but trashed the Windows bootloader (which could not be recovered) on the ssd as it also wrote grub to the ssd using the Erase Disk option in setup. And that will be my Fedora experience in this life.

should you point out that the versions of Gnome are different? And another understanding I have is that if you went with Ubuntu, you can't simply roll over into the next LTS release, where as Fedora that is what happens - if this is wrong please advise. The other major difference that I am not sure I heard you mention directly - maybe I missed it, is that Fedora is its own distro and Ubuntu starts with Debian and then tweaks or improves it in some way. I would like to see a similar treatment of Fedora as it is so much mucking around to make it a daily driver for us newbies - maybe they exist and I am not aware of them?

What file system did you set Ubuntu with during install EXT4 or ZFS? Fedora defaults to BTRFS which gobbles free memory as cache.

I'm thorned between those two. I wish to try to use one of them as my daily driver distro, instead of Windows 10, for gaming, content creation and the normal pc stuff. I really need to decide about which one tho!

Two biggest Linux distros still have no clue how 98% of the world uses desktop computers. Just put a persistent taskbar on the bottom. How f-ing hard is it to make this an option?
