An investigation is underway after video allegedly shows a Philadelphia police officer shoplifting from a 7-Eleven.

It happened around 10 a.m. last Friday at the convenience store located on the 1100 block of East Luzerne Street.

Surveillance video obtained by Action News shows the 25th District male police officer in full uniform walking up to a cooler. He looks through the items and then grabs what a police report describes as a 12-ounce Celsius kiwi guava energy drink that sells for $2.49 plus tax.

But instead of paying for the item, the video shows the officer simply walking out the door.

That shocked the clerk who alerted the owner's wife who was also at the counter. She did not want her face shown.

"Hey, the guy, the officer did not pay for his stuff. I'm like, 'What?' " said Aicha Chajai, the store owner's wife. "I thought maybe he forgot or something, so he keep walking."

She and her husband went outside the store to let him know he had to pay for the item. They tried to flag him down but he reportedly drove away.

It’s clearly showing on cameras that he took the drink and walked out without paying so what else is there to investigate???!!

Why not show his face? If it was anyone else they'd be shown charged or not.. He knew full well that he was being recorded just like everyone else who walks into convenience store. But they can't show his face because he hasn't been charged? He walked in of his own volition, thereby giving consent to be recorded. Show the footage unedited.

Wow I'm shocked that he casually walked away like nothing and he felt like he was entitled of getting that beverage for free. Lead by example and that was not a good example of a good police officer.

This wasn’t the first time he’s done that.

The policeman saw the 'We support Police" and took that literally.

What a police officer broked the law? So Shocking. I've never heard of such a thing 😅

That video speaks for itself. This is not the first time he did that. He was too comfortable. It's okay for the LAW to walk into a store and grab whatever they want without paying. When that 8-year-old kid grabs a bag of CHIPS without paying. They had a mob of cops escort him to the swat car. Talk about DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!! We have criminals patrolling the streets. 🤨 😬

What I find truly amazing is the fact that he had the intestinal fortitude to walk past those donuts without stopping.

While we’re bring up things Philly cops do…how about the “turning on police sirens” JUST TO RUN A RED LIGHT and then immediately turning them off. It’s just blatant power abuse dude.

I thought committing a crime while armed made it felony robbery

A prediction: the police will say they investigated and determined the office was "answering a call" and had to leave quickly and simply "forgot."
