I grew up in that area. Born in Marion, NC. People don't realize how vital Swannanoa is. Even back in the 1600s we didn't have a way across the mountains until the "Gap" was found. Now interstate 40 runs through it along with rail lines. It's not very wide and if the river, which is beautiful is angry, it can stop commerce in its tracks. It's as vital or more so than any major port. Coming up the mountains from Marion to Black Mountain means I-40. If that's closed, the 15 mile trip turns into a 3hr ride through some of the most beautiful and rugged roads on the east coast. Now I think about it, if I-40 is closed and Chimney Rock is impassable, I honestly don't know how to get from Marion to Asheville without an all day ride. We easily forget how good we have it.

I'm beyond grateful for the American people to step up and help when our government doesn't. Thank you National Guard for assisting. We've seen how much you've been helping 🙏

Anywhere there was a river there was detrimental damage. I can’t even imagine what it would be like thank God I don’t live near a river. I live right outside of Asheville and I live nowhere near water. I would never live near water during any storm. It is the worst place you can live. Yes it is beautiful to live on a river. Yes, it is wonderful to see the water every day but ..The path of water is dangerous and it’s not worth your life and your home people build on lakes and rivers all the time knowing that that could happen and the stupid thing is, they never have flood insurance never like one percent of all the people in the area of Asheville have flood insurance one percent you kidding me

no matter how much help we give them these people are probably looking at 20 years to fully recover from this. I pray they can stay strong and work together because really that's all they got to hold onto if anybody has natural gas anywhere I can show them how to easily converted generator to natural gas for probably less than $30 instead of a $600 kit
Maybe it will help I don't know but I'm sure they could really use some freezers up and going I'm off grid they depend on freezers for a lot of stock up food

This is so heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹 if you are one of these people tell yourself one step at a time and it’s just stuff. Thank God for getting you through. I know I lost everything to a wildfire and that’s what got me through.

The city Ensenada, Baja California, México, in the continent América, in planet The Earth, in the Galaxy Vía Lactea, is a safe city without huracans. Here, no nasty storms never of never.

I think, Americans need to rebuild theirs homes by another material, for example by brick, not paper
