It's a song about Trixie, taking place after she leaves Ponyville in shame. She has travelled from town to town, but is always rejected and scoffed at by the residents. The whole world sees her as a hoax... She's feeling lonely, and wishes she could go back to Ponyville and start over. She wishes that everyone could forgive and forget. After all, everypony needs second chances.

I got emotional writing this, it's sad. :(

Wow...this takes me back. I found this song not long after I discovered the MLP fandom. Back when it seemed so nebulous...so mysterious and plentiful to explore. I feel old now. lol. Great work, I'm enjoying it about as much as I am the day I found it! You will always rock, Aviators!

This song. Just...wow. Very nice vocals, honestly, and the backing track to it is fantastic.

But the heart of the song, the lyrics you've put together, are very powerful and bring out a real feel for the emotions you've put up for Trixie. It's wonderful how much emotional drive this piece has. Love it, phenomenal song!

Music like this is just one out of a long list of reasons I love the FiM fandom: the feelings the characters create in people, and in turn the talent it draws out, is wonderful. This song is a perfect paradigm of what that produces: the emotions I feel from the lyrics, well-complimenting music... it all flows together to take me on a journey through the eyes and heart of one of my favorite ponies.

I was just looking for Trixie songs when I found this...
It's actually quite interesting to see how this song is named "Second Chances" when a few years later, an episode was named "No Second Prances" (clearly a pun) and featured Trixie again.

@SamZeichen Well If You Only Knew was definitely inspired by them, but Second Chances was named after the Toastbeard theme for that week. I guess it's just a coincidence that they're both Shinedown song names. :/
