Wowee, a coach can't even deliver a spray. If a player was in tears, that speaks volumes how soft the current generation is

When I played in Benalla, we copped a spray from our coach (Steve Hickey, former Kangaroo) I thought he was going to faint he went that red in the face….. we won by 17 after being down by 33 in the last quarter.

I don't have a problem with Noble going hard at the players after an embarrassing performance. What I do have a problem with is that the performances are worse than they were last year when we fully bottomed out. The 2nd and 3rd year players should be getting better, but they clearly are not. In the 2nd half of last year we actually won some games and were far more competitive. The fundamental skills levels of the players are the worst in the AFL by a mile. There is no clear game plan or in-game management to counteract what the opposition is doing when it all goes horribly wrong. All of that is clear evidence that the head coach and coaching staff are failing badly. North needs an experienced coach to make something out of this group of players, because they are performing well below the level they could or should be at. If the better young players leave when they come off contract you have to start all over again. Noble needs to go sooner rather than later. undeadkid101 101, don't bother with your usual BS reply to defend Noble.

If the coach is apologising to the players he should quit. So should any player who was "in tears" upon hearing what was probably the truth.

Ron Barassi rolling in his grave and he’s not even dead, he’d give you a spray for even questioning the spray, he was a hard nut that would motivate the players, you mean to tell me coaches nowadays will apologise for doing what they should do? Is hurt feelings getting in the way of this now? This game is slowly dying, taking away the best parts of the game bit by bit.

I’m sorry but David noble shouldn’t have to apologise if the players are playing badly, if these guys can’t handle a good ole fashion spray from their coach, they shouldn’t be playing in AFL football!

First they came for the biff, then they removed the characters and personalities of the game, now they come for the spray. Maybe it’s just me but we are approaching a very watered down version of a once great sport, it’s any wonder organisations like the UFC are the fastest growing sports, entertainment isn’t just skilled based it’s everything from the build up, the history, the stakes etc. I’m not sure who’s in charge of making these calls but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they have no professional athletic background and are hired based on ‘some fancy degree’

So much for tough footy needs to start providing safe spaces around the feild of play in case their poor wittle feelings are hurt during a a joke.

Need the soft pillow softly softly approach. Just a bunch of kindergarten children. Read the players a good night story before tuck them into bed.

Noble coached Glenelg to it's lowest ever score in 2004 ! 1.4 (10) v Norwood.

North have gone massively backwards since sacking Brad Scott at least he had them playing competitive football.

So they actually don’t know what the spray was about? So as usual the panel are jumping at shadows.
