**MORE ABOUT ADLINKS**

Pls. Note that some of the links are just SIMILAR items due to availability (many of my clothes are older), and that some of them are adlinks which means I might be working on an affiliate-based term with the brand/website. Therefore I may receive a small percentage in commission if a purchase is being made.

Also note that I go out of my way to find eco-friendly alternatives - either straight from an eco-brand or from a brand that is improving qualities (organic cotton, recycled polyester etc.).

A good tip is to pay attention to the color that you are drawn to, find that color palette that you love and stick to it. I found that every time I bought something that didn't fit into my color palette I got bored of it quite quickly

I just wanted to thank you for your channel. I naturally tend toward minimalism and have tried the capsule wardrobe for years. A few years back I went on the keto diet, lost a lot of weight, and now at age 62 for the first time in my life I can actually look stylish. Your channel has helped me figure out how to make that work. And now that I have a new job and have to get dressed every day to go to work, this channel has been an immense help. Iʻm also a veteran thrift store shopper; 90% of my wardrobe comes from the thrift stores. Last night -- so excited!!! -- I found an amazing black leather biker jacket at the Goodwill. I already have a very worn and distressed and very loved black leather jacket, but this one has all the silver zippers and angles, and I never would have looked twice at it before now. I can hardly wait to wear it!!! Thank you so much for all your tips and inspiration. Muah!!! xo

For those who have already made these mistakes: in some cases it makes sense to invest in a sewing machine and learn the basics. I had sooo many items that were good but had only that tiny thing that bothered me (a bit too wide or too long or too boring) and just by changing up that little bit I could wear those clothes again and didn’t have to buy new ones! 🙂

Sometimes when you're getting older, it's not always clear what could be your new style or silhouette and I tend to buy clothes that used to suit me when I was younger.

I know when I was younger, a lot of my impulse buying came from other people’s influences or even just out of boredom. I feel like it’s been a struggle throughout my 20’s; trying to define not just my style, but also my life in general as an individual. I’ve made a lot of these mistakes that you listed here, but I’m glad that that phase of life is past me now 😊

It's best when we realize that clothing isn't a sustainable happiness provider at all. It's temporary, and if we can discover happiness in things more permanent and non material, we're happier over all and clothing matters less.

I agree with you! One thing I could add is that - let it take time! It's a fun process that I think never will end since your wardrobe always can be tweaked to fit your everchaning lifestyle. This you can't really get around, especially if your looking for your items second hand 😊

Yes I totally agree with you🤗 love my capsule wardrobe now, but my first mistake was sizing down too much! I only had 30 items and then I got stressed with washing especially during traveling!

My worst mistake was falling in love with a particular style of shirt, and rushing out and buying it in another colour and print whenever that brand had a sale. Obviously I couldn't wear them all so inevitably stuck to a few favourites, keeping the others for 'best'. Then one day I realised my passion for them was spent and I was left with at least 6 unworn shirts to find new homes for 😕. These days I stick to a max. of one additional version of a loved item, and won't repurchase until they are worn out. Chances are that by then, I'm ready for a change.

I love to think of life as imperfectly perfect or perfectly imperfect, however you like ✨ mistakes are lessons; bad habits are an opportunity for great habits and skies the limit. Reach for the stars so high that it seems you’ll never reach them but you’ll surely come close! Be you, be free, and be the inspiration within the canvas. That’s how I’ve traveled my way into this journey of minimalism.

My favorite of your mistakes is "Dress for your dream life" not your reality, Bingo, Bingo, Bingo. It doesn't change that much but does elevated my look and I "Feel" and am in fact more comfortable. Thank you for some simple realistic and attainable goals. Ta, Ta

Good points! I had bought 2 t-shirts because "everyone" said you need to have striped tops in your capsule wardrobe - a "staple". I have worn them a few times, but you know what? ….I really don't like stripes! LOL! So in the donate pile they go. I love some of the booties and dressier items but my lifestyle is such that I just don't wear a lot of that. Really taking a look at your lifestyle is sooo important.

All these tips are really spot on. I think people live in their dreams instead of reality often.

Thank you! This is always so true for me. I’ve felt so much better since reducing my wardrobe and enjoying what I already have. I find I’m happier and taking better care of the things I do have already. This idea of buy, buy, buy is not doing any good for anyone and is so wasteful. 🙏

Having a few great pieces that make me happy when I wear them over and over provides much more happiness to me than having new clothes!

I have one that’s important to where I live; that mistake is to not taking the weather into consideration. Here in January, where temperatures usually are around -20 to -40, we can have warm days of above 0 for a couple of days before temperatures drop again. We also snow in June sometimes or early September but two days later it’s 30C. So I learned to not put away too many seasonal items because we never know when we might need them.
I love your videos by the way.

I'm drawn to, like you, stripes, jeans, jackets, bags!!! You are so so right with what you're saying!! Thank you 👍👍

I have been a shopaholic lately, mostly on thrift shops. I usually am drawn to floral and striped dresses, as well as pastel collared shirts. Watching this made me re-realize how enough the items were in my wardrobe already. 💙

😔 Talk about getting real with myself. I moved from a large city to a small town 19 yrs ago! Only in the last 3 yrs did I finally let go of my city attire. Hello VERY relaxed & basic wardrobe. I embrace & love it 🤗
