Common Summer Style Mistakes & How to Fix them

to be honest she’s not taking body types into consideration. on her, the first outfit doesn’t look very flattering because she has an almost inverted triangle body shape, but on my body shape (pear), it would look very flattering.

I'm seeing a lot of comments mentioning they like the first look more than the "fixed" look, and while perhaps a bit of it is due to the desire to be the contrarian, I think it'll be fun to look at why the first looks actually do WORK in many peoples eyes (though as a disclaimer, I'm not a fashionista at all, this is all just theoretical):

Outfit 1: I actually agree with the principal of loser shorts with a tighter top, but the first pair of shorts she wears aren't really that short?? Maybe it's just me, but I think since they're so high waisted they appear longer than they are. Not to mention they're still fairly loose as well, contrasting nicely with the tight top.

In comparison, while I think the "fixed" outfit also looks good, the white on white can be a bit much, while the more cream/tan shorts were a nice contrast. Though the thing most people disliked about this look was the long sleeve shirt, which is fair but I do think she meant to imply that you wear a looser top, not necessarily a long sleeve one.

2. This is the one that I personally disagree with the most! While I agree a belt is not always necessary, and she does make a good point, I don't think that was the right dress to demonstrate it. In the first look, the belt not only gives the dress some shape and thus excentuating her own form, it also gives a pop of color in an otherwise plain outfit. I think if she better wanted to demonstrate this idea, she should have picked a lighter dress and/or one with a pattern.

3. I agree with her on this one, but I did see at least one comment pointing out how the shoes are a nice contrast to the dress, and I can see that! Personally, I agree with with creator that the darker color of the shoe isn't a great fit. I think if they were cream colored they'd style with the dress better, but then again they might not pop as much if that's what you were going for. Overall I do like the sandals she went with in her "fix".

That all said, fashion is subjective and I'm sure the op knows that. The title is just obviously clickbait in order to get the video seen by as many people as possible, and I doubt she'd call out outfit choices like these as "mistakes" in real life, if she even noticed them at all. I just like to overanalyize, and had some fun mentally directing why some people prefer one styling over the other.

Really interesting reading through the comments and noticing the differences between attitudes to the outfits from women in the states and those in Europe. One example being the first pair of shorts, in the UK definitely beach wear!

For those wondering about the full sleeves in the summer in a hot country (if you’d like to know how to rock it), I make sure that it’s a very breathable material (100% cotton), loose and in a light colour and I find I’m comfortable and airy.

The Bermuda shorts are actually the more dated look! You only think that it’s more on trend because going retro or vintage is popular these days.

Nope. The first two definitely depend on the body type and height. This needs a disclaimer that it's for this particular body type/height, otherwise it will look like crap.
