Women have been trying to gain legitimacy in this sport for years and on the biggest stage this is what the world sees. Many female breakdancers were in tears after watching that performance. When people think about female breakdancing they think about Raygun and its a big joke and say its not a sport and anyone can do it. Many female breakdancers depend on donations to go to events at the grassroots level and many of the coaches are saying they are not receiving these donations because of Raygun.

I love how she had to take back the "unfair" comment regarding the criticism, because to be honest her performance is really hard to defend. You can say it was "courageous" or "creative" to break the way she did, but in the end of the day that was definitely a well deserved 0 points performance.

Right, she's a professor and knows the academics of a street sport.. so why is she in the olympics? The Olympics is for legitimate athletes not someone who "studies the politics of breaking". If you can't beat your competitors with moves from the actual sport then why are you competing? It's fine if she wants to keep breakdancing and entering competitions but she is not an Olympic Athlete - she is a person that somehow got into the Olympics. There is a difference between coming in last and scoring zeros across the board. It's just extremely unfair to real athletes that are competing in their fields and imo really discredits what the olympics is supposed to be about.

Bringing original creativity doesn’t mash well on stage like Olympic where most of athletes work their butt off for the chance of single events. This was direct disrespect for athletes and their family whom worked so hard to for them to shine when part time break dancer just casually joined the national team ahead of talented people so she can send the message.

What’s insulting is the fact that Raygun being in the Olympics severely diminishes the Olympic brand. There are many other street dancers way better than her and yet to claim that she is best out of Oceania is delusional. Olympics is for top elite athletes of the world and she is clearly not one of them. It’s not a space where anyone can go to give it their best shot. End of.

More people are seeing this routine than the actual performance of the medal winners. FYI…break dancing is not going to be an event in 2028 not because of Raygun’s dancing. It was dropped for 2028 way before the Paris games.
