Breakdancing is an artform and part of a culture. It’s one of the pillars of hip-hop and historically a Black and Hispanic dance genre born during the 70’s in the Bronx. It contains variations of standard moves that include freezes, power moves, downrock, and toprock, and it takes incredibly athletic & acrobatic dance moves and fuses them with popping, locking, and other street-style dances. It’s fine to for Rachael Gunn to say she has her own improvisational style however it lacks any difficulty in the elements previously listed. That all being said, why don’t reporters speak about how Rachael Gunn has greatly disrespected the breaking culture thinking her performance is what should represent breakdancing on a world stage at a world class level?
