Fans weren't quite sure what to expect in the debut of Olympic breaking, but the Internet certainly wasn't expecting the moves that came from the Australian dancer known as "Raygun."
Following her performance in the new Olympic sport, Rachel Gunn's dancing quickly took over social media.
While not without skill, some of the 36-year-old's creative moves took the Internet by surprise, including one dubbed the "kangaroo."
Breaking made its long-awaited debut at the Paris Olympics on Friday - and the skills of an academic dancer called 'Raygun' has left fans questioning whether the street performance art has a role to play in the global contest of champions.
A clip of the 36-year-old - real name Rachael Gunn - quickly went viral as she awkwardly squirmed on the dance floor with her hand on her chin to end what was already a dreadful routine.
The clip was taken from her face-off against France's Syssy (Sya Dembélé) in the second of three qualifying matches on Friday afternoon - and ultimately scored no points against any of her three rivals
Ms Gunn is, however, Australia's top-ranking breakdancer and an expert researcher on breaking and works for Sydney's Macquarie University as a researcher in its creative arts department.
But as videos of the performance circulated on the internet, users shared their thoughts on all things Raygun, from her stage name, outfit choice, and overall performance.
Aussie B-girl Raygun, real name Rachael Gunn, was our representative as the sport debuted on the Olympic stage overnight Friday.
And from the audience’s first glimpse, you had to wonder what the hell we were thinking.
It’s obviously harsh, but if the aim of the game was to connect with a younger audience why did Raygun look like she’d taken a wrong turn on her way to sit in the outer at a one-day international cricket game.
In a field where the other competitors looked young and fresh, we were the daggy mum. And yes, she did the sprinkler.
It wasn’t hard to predict how social media was going to react.
“Never watched breaking before but I can already tell Raygun doesn’t have a chance in this event,” one wrote.

She's set back White People Dancing by at least 50 years. Thanks Nanna.

Every bad dancer in the club will now be labeled a raygun 😂

Whose idea was it to send her over dressed like she’s gonna play 20/20 cricket …

If she’s Australia’s number one breakdancer, then breaking doesn’t belong there

If she is the best 'ranked' breakdancer in Australia they have rigged the ranking system all wrong. She looks like she went to support her children playing sport on the weekend and got kidnapped.

We can all agree that she should never compete again

She claimed she was taking on sexism. All I saw was cringe.

You can go to any capitol city in Australia and find a woman 100 times better at breaking than her. There has to be some form of corruption that allowed her to compete. It's madness.

I read she doesn’t train. What a slap in the face to athletes who give up years of their lives in training.

I’m just utterly amazed that she is the best female breaker in Australia. That’s just hard to believe

Doesn't count if she ranks herself. It's like McDonald's saying they sell 100% beef

Proof of the accuracy of the saying, “Those who can, do. Those who cannot, teach.”
