Unfaithful is a 2002 American erotic thriller film directed and produced by Adrian Lyne and starring Richard Gere, Diane Lane, Olivier Martinez, Erik Per Sullivan, Chad Lowe, and Dominic Chianese. It was adapted by Alvin Sargent and William Broyles Jr. from the 1969 French film The Unfaithful Wife. It tells the story of a couple living in suburban New York City whose marriage goes dangerously awry when the wife indulges in an affair with a stranger she encounters by chance.

The part where Edward asks "You talk about me?" shows he is near his breaking part. When he sees his wife re-gifted the globe to Paul like it was nothing is what pushed him over the edge. Edward was not right to do what he did but honestly if Edward had bashed Connie in the head with the globe, I would have had no issue with it. Also, Paul was being way too casual with Edward. He should have known there was a good likelihood Edward would attack him.

Seeing the globe and hearing Paul say “it was a gift from Connie” was the final straw for Edward… when he keeps repeating “I feel sick, I don’t feel well” and Paul even appears as a slight blur in front of him, it was probably an inner voice he resisted, repeating “kill him” until, in a whim, he gave in and beat Paul to death…
