It's like that with Marillion... I haven't even heard the song yet and I've already pressed the like button.

I bought the original version by Greg Lake in the 70, s. The marillion version is the best cover I have heard. Long live Marillion and ELP.

It's a great version of probably my favorite Christmas song of all time. The video is really lovely also.. except I still see Greg sitting in the Israeli desert with camels crossing behind him. I miss him a lot.

Fantastic. Brilliant. Emotional. This version did Greg Lakes’ original massive justice without losing the power of the message being portrayed. Well done Marillion and merry Christmas to all xx

Maybe only MARILLION is able to improve a fantastic 48 years old (!) Christmas song, keep the original spirit alive and add the gorgeous modern MARILLION sound. Thank you very much for each single revisited Christmas song over the last years!
MARILLION FOREVER!

WOW - Wonderful version of the best Christmas single ever by the greatest band ever.

A poem I wrote about Greg in 2002, which he kindly signed for me:

In ‘69 with Crimson, to me he was King,
Fripp asked him to play bass and wanted him to sing.
He Talked to the Wind and craved for Cat Food,
Though later got arrested for swimming in the nude.
He joined Keith and Carl at the dawn of a new decade,
So no more Epitaph or Cadence and Cascade.
His popularity soared on record and on stage,
As he sang about a Sheriff, Father Christmas and The Sage.
He’s highly skilled on guitar be it twelve strings, six or four,
No trucks full of gear, just a Persian rug on the floor.
“ Oh what a Lucky Man “ he sang to us all,
Then later: C’est La Vie, Pirates and So Far to Fall.
I’ve loved his music for so long, he feels like a friend,
For me I hope and pray his show will never end.

Ian Mosley makes this cover for me! He seems like a diamond geezer in the sense he would be equally at home on a building site as he would rubbing shoulders with rock stars!! 👌

Nice version. First thing I've liked from Marillion since Marbles tbh.
