The week, hot off the heels of CES, Sean is back in the studio to continue the conversation on the S5II! We received so many questions over the past week that we weren't able to get to so we're digging into them from the LUMIX Live studio! From focusing with Sigma and Leica lenses, to the menu systems and options, we'll be taking the time over the next few weeks to dig into this new offering from LUMIX!

I'm so happy I stuck with Lumix from GH3, GH4, GH5, GH5s, and 3 s5s with now the S5II on preorder. If you kick out a S series EVA it will be Icing on the cake

Love the S5II release, and I hope it's going to mean a huge growth of the Lumix user base! And wow, I didn't know you can do dual-ish IS with (some) 3rd party L Mount lenses. That's great!

Somewhat agreed with 12:45 about G9 II. I honestly don't necessarily need PDAF (it would be great for action photography though!), but _some_ new more stills-oriented Lumix MFT camera (G9 II, G90 II) would be excellent with dual native ISO on a stacked BSI sensor, fast and robust shutter, animal eye detect, waveforms for stills, normal fully articulating screen... ideally all this in a G90 body (size and ergonomics + joystick). The GH6 is great, but it's a bit too bulky and uncomfortable for photography with that otherwise excellent protruding tilty-flippy screen and fan.

Thank you for participating at /r/Lumix, by the way! We're trying to keep that place active and this release helped a _lot_, haha.

Thanks for another great Lumix Live, Sean. My number one wish is that Panasonic will bring Edward Lachman's EL Zone System to the S5II and IIX, the GH6 and coming new cameras.

Because of time shift I normally can not join the live session so I have to watch it afterwards. It is a great format! So I have a question for the next session:
I‘m one of these photographers only and use the HighRes Shot quite often for architecture, lost places (inside) and sometimes landscape. Is there a reason why it is not possible to combine HighRes with AE Bracketing? Even the new S5II is not able to do this! So I have to manually switch the settings after each shot. Could be much easier with some software improvement and only one push of the button…
Additionally each Lumix camera I know for over 10 years now, can only do AE Bracketing with a maximum of 1EV. It would be very handy to setup something like 2EV for 3 or 5 frames instead of 7 pictures with 1EV. With a simple change of the software interface it could become much more flexible. This could be no technical restriction…
For creating HDR pictures in HighRes it would be very nice to take 3 or 5 pictures in HighRes with 2EV difference with just one action. The results are great, but I have to this manually at the moment…

The S5ii and the S5iix look amazing but I can’t help but feel like the S5ii sales are going to be hit hard once the S5iix is released.

I think the price points are incredible for what’s offered but it feels like you’re definitely taking a hit going with the S5ii up front. The upgrade to 5.9K RAW over HDMI is going to cost an extra fee for the S5ii but you’re better off purchasing the S5iix at that point for the fractional difference. Unless of course Panasonic offers all the all the upgrades to the S5ii for a $199 upgrade (ProRes, SSD recording, Live-streaming features, etc)

I am seriously looking at Panasonic though regardless.

Random person on the internet here. I was wondering if you would consider making the S1H mkii's body more video centric-that is, make it the only model in the S series that doesn't have a photo body. Perhaps something like the C70?Also... the S5Mk2X looks like such an exciting camera for the price. AND...I know you can't comment on projects in development.

It was kinda funny to hear people prognosticating about the immediate end of MFT at Lumix during the S release earlier this month.

Like, do they not understand how much MFT glass is floating around? It's an embarrassment of riches.

I'm very excited for the S5iix! One request I have, though, is to make it compatible with linear timecode and the Deity TC-1. Perhaps it could be done with the remote port and a 3.5mm to 2.5mm conversion cable? Is that doable? This would make the S5iix PERFECT!

Great job 👍. It wud be great to have animal eye autofocus added with firmware. So far the the new autofocus looks awesome from the videos out there.

will there be a possibility for buying an NDI license for the s5iix ?

Speaking of changing lenses, can the S5 II close its shutter when powered off, for sensor dust protection? If not, could that be added in software?

Missed the live stream but I'm wondering if it's possible to punch in to check focus on video while recording? Would love to know this please! :)

Full support/functionality for the DMW-MS2 Mid-Side Mic ala S1/S1H (i.e. Stereo, Lens Auto, Shotgun, S.Shotgun, Manual) or the crippled support/functionality found on the GH6 (i.e. Stereo, Shotgun only) for the S5 II/IIX? As an owner of 2xS1's and a GH6 and 4x DMW-MS2's I've been extremely disappointed in this crippling of your microphone on the GH6, kindly rectify this situation with a firmware update, I rely on this microphone heavily.
