MUTABAL RECIPE || Creamy Roasted Eggplant or Aubergine Dip || Easy Moutabal or Mutabbal Recipe
In this video, we show you a Mutabal Recipe, which is a Creamy Roasted Eggplant or Aubergine Dip. Mutabal (also known as Moutabal or Mutabbal) is a popular Mezze or appetizer dish in the Middle East and in particular, it is popular in Lebanese and Syrian cuisines. Variations of Mutabal are also popular in other Middle Eastern countries including Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Iran and Turkey, as well as in some Mediterranean cuisines. Mutabbal is slightly different from Baba Ganoush since it is more creamy with the addition of yogurt and tahini. Moutabal is served cold alongside other Mezze dishes and can be enjoyed with toasted pita bread.
To make the Mutabal Recipe, you will need:
1 large Eggplant (also called Aubergine) - roast in the oven or over the stovetop flame (for a more intense smokey flavour)
3 tbs thick yogurt (thick Greek-style yogurt works best)
3 tbs Tahini paste (sesame seed paste)
1 large garlic clove
3 tbs lemon juice
salt to taste
garnish with:
extra virgin olive oil
sumac
pomegranate seeds
parsley
mint leaves
You can serve the Mutabal alongside some of our other Middle Eastern Mezze recipes:
Mutabal has a delcious smokey roasted eggplant or aubergine flavour with a rich and creamy texture. It is delicious as a side dish with any grilled meats or even rice dishes. Mutabal is also a great Iftar recipe idea during Ramadan when served alongside other Middle Eastern and Arabic dishes.
