How Circumcision Works In Philippines - Tuli In Philippines 😰

It is called pakang in the philippines. Most of 90's kids got circumcise this way.

In my Hometown we call the place "Batakan" where the operation will be performed known as "Paltak", "Palpag" or "Tuli" in Tagalog. The knife used is not literally a knife as illustrated in the video... 😂😂😂
It resembles a reversed letter "L" shaped wooden guide known as "Lukaw". The tip or foreskin or the penile prepruce is where to insert the lukaw, then a "Labaja" is placed on top of the forsekin and it will be followed by a light blow of another wooden object to create a slit on the skin. After that a Penicillin and clean, sterilised white cloth is wrapped on the wounded area. We were advised by the Albularyo that we need to clean it daily with a boiled guva leaves and put Penicillin before covering it with sterilised cloth. It's best to perform this in Summer as it is humid and the scar will dry fast.

Missing the old days having this done ( yes I have undergone such traditional "Tuli" ) the 3 of us together with a family friend and my Elder Brother who already past away...

I got circumcised in a modern way (Doctor) instead of this traditional procedure. So this method may be more common in older days

Some circumcision was held in every Black Saturday or Sabado de Gloria in Tagalog, where young boys are also in the state of vacation from the school. And the dry season helps them their cuts to heal quickly.

This method is called "kapon" and I think it does not exist anymore, but I'm not sure. Usually this procedure was done in very very far places.... like the hospital is far from certain communities. Mind you, if you are not circumcised in the Philippines you will be bullied forever. It is an important part of personal hygiene.

Holy sht i am a resident of the Philippines but we do not perform this acts anymore because of serious health risk that can impose (infection, most of the times) but there are some parts of the country that still do this method
