In this lesson, we will learn how to solve problems in physics that involve velocity and acceleration in the xy plane. These are called two dimensional (2d) velocity and acceleration problems. We will define a starting and ending point of an object and calculate the velocity in the x and y directions as the object moves to the ending position.

I don’t understand why you would not just calculate the length of the resultant vector, using the amount of change in X, and Y coordinates, and then use the Pythagorean theorem to calculate the length of the vector, followed by dividing the length by the elapsed time to calculate the average velocity. Just trying to understand. Thank you so much for your videos!!

Why leave the unnecessary trailing 0's in the calculation? They obviously make no difference to the calculation.
