Why don't we take g as + for final velocity since the projectile is moving in the direction of g and not against it?

what is the highest height attained by the ball?
At what time it hits the ground?
What are the magnitude and direction of velocity when it hits the ground.

I just followed the equation in the video. My initial velocity was 2.5 m/s height of 15m. I got 26.3m/s as the final. is this a bit too much??
edit: in the final equation part I wrote 20 squared as is. is this the height?
NOW I solve it again as 15 squared it became 22.8m/s
which is correct here?
