MY SUSTAINABILITY TIPS | Living more consciously

After a bit of debate I thought it might be helpful (both for myself and hopefully others) to do this video on 5 of my top tips for living more sustainably. I actually think a lot more hardline on a lot of these issues than I say in the video, but I also believe that by telling people they can make some difference by making small changes is better than telling people it's either all or nothing.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, questions and comments below so fire away! As I said in the video, I'm still relatively new to making a conscious effort to live more sustainably (although I've always been very conscious about things like leaving lights on and eating meat etc.).
Ps. If you haven't already, go and listen to Jack Harries and Earthling Ed talk about sustainability in Ed's podcast 'The Disclosure Podcast'.

Loved hearing about sustainable fashion!
I'm lucky to live in a rural area so often buy produce directly from the members of my community that grow their produce themselves 🙌
One big thing that I noticed and have changed has been use of paper towels in household cleaning - most of the jobs you're doing with paper towel can be done just as well with a rag, which you can reuse and wash over and over (and is also a good way to make use of clothes that don't fit or that you no longer wear rather than chucking them). A roll of paper towel now lasts me well over a month when I used to go through one a week.

Some great tips, thanks! We are now growing much more of our own food, this is one of the best ways to live more sustainably, the food travels about 5 metres - from our garden to our table! The food is organic and far more fresh than from the supermarket. Even if you don't have a garden if you have a small terrace or a balcony it is amazing what you can still grow in containers, etc.

Fab video Flora - you covered loads of ideas! It's such a ridiculously massive topic, and there are so many grey areas too. It's so important to just be aware of our impact :)

This was great! I’m also in the beginning of my sustainability journey so this was a cool one to watch. 😁

I love it that influencers have a life outside their main topic, especially when it is something that resonates with me like this. Use your influence for good! A few years ago I made a New year resolution to not buy any new clothes, unless it is produced fair and sustainable or second hand. The main effect is that you just stop buying clothes at all almost. I bought just a few items on Etsy, that were handmade by people that I communicated with. Makes all the difference! Here is another tip: download the app To good to go. It is worldwide and especially efficient in big cities. I have lots of tips for family life with young children. But that is maybe for another few years. 😉 Great topic! Glad you spoke up, don't be nervous!

love this! thanks for sharing :) ive been trying to cut down on non-reusable plastic, and have found that Lush have some great options for package free products such as shampoo and conditioner bars, and naked shower bars and moisturisers, and even naked makeup and perfume. definitely recommend for anyone who wants to be more conscientious about their beauty products

Such a brilliant video! I feel so strongly about this topic but often struggle with knowing what I can do myself to help. These tips make it super easy to see what changes I should be making :)

This is so great!! I've been watching David Attenborough's series on Netflix and have been wondering how we can be more sustainable and save the world!! 🌍

To be honest, I’ve never really been a big environmentalist, but I went to the Extinction Rebellion protests on Good Friday and it’s got me thinking more. I’m an ethical vegan so I know I am inadvertently doing a lot already (most likely biggest return even), but I realize it’s not enough. So been thinking of working on reducing plastics to start with.

Hi Miss,

First of all, I think you're very chic & I'm so jealous of how skilled & pretty & smart you are - and love the accent! Unlike my awful northern accent lol! Also your name is cute!

I have so many life queries, including about how to live a sustainable and enjoyable and productive summer, but I'm only going to focus on the topic of blogging in the UK.

I'm 23 yrs old, British, female, not a mum, not a success, sadly ethnic, been wanting to create a positively impactful, unique & inspiring blog since age 15!

I have dabbled for months at a time using several sites including WordPress, Blogger & Wix but never managed to get anywhere.

Ultimately, I do wish to have a career in blogging since everyday/public jobs such as being a McDonald's crew member, a carer & shop volunteer have never worked out for me.

Hand on heart not interested in the money side, although it would be nice.

I am a natural writer but I'm tired of boxes of pieces of papers & random word files randomly and habitually detailing my experiences and thoughts about the world - what's the point of all that if no one is benefitting from it, least if all me.

I'm not interested in vlogging but I would love to be successful at blogging.I feel like I want a routine and to blog at least 3× a week and post meaningful content.
I wouldn't be able to find a niche as I have an array of interests. I am genuinely interested in and passionate about several subjects of daily life.

Any help?

It's 3am, my anxiety is sky high, I can't sleep, I am unemployed & not in study, I have no friends nor social support but not a bum.

I am also suffering chronic illness, , in addition to countless other issues, and sitting around doing nothing is torturous, especially in a toxic environment.

There is so much I want to say and raise awareness of but how and where do I start?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I don't buy secondhand is athletic pants and running shoes, I've had bad luck with secondhand athletic pants. I like to get my running shoes from a small running shop. One of my easiest swaps was getting a shampoo bar

You for sure need to talk about the fast fashion issue with Grace... the amount of hauls of fast fashion she does is kinda huge.. just saying...
