This is perfect to take on the road in my van while camping and doing wildlife photography and for jamming on the couch. I make quick grooves all the time as my main practice method and being able to beam those jams into Live on my laptop gives them a much better chance of ever seeing the light of day. My Op-1 has been a favorite for this job but I'm excited about writing drum parts on the Move!

2:43:00 yes it has ONE choke group. I believe turned on or off per pad with second page of knob parameters. Also you can load a template drum kit with this set up on each pad already for you.

I picked one up to make music during playtime with my young kids. The built-in mic, speaker, and battery make it useful with zero cables, which is fantastic. My current setup of an MPK Mini+, BlipBlox SK2, TR-6S, Boss VE-22 with a 57, and Centrance Bouncer running into a Vifa Oslo is fun but quite a few cables, which makes it tempting to swap in less “fun for kids to mess with” synths like Virus Snow / Toraiz AS-1 etc.

Seems fun to be able to chop samples, which the SP-404 can also do well if I want to put that on the play case, but it’s a little more involved and feels a bit too serious. Hopefully they improve the chopping so you don’t just have to press the buttons in time without a chance to edit after capture.

Loved this overview! As someone who is definitely not going to get one, since I'm happy with my current hardware and don't use Abelton. I love the idea and execution of this device! Having a quick sketchpad to jut out an idea, rhythm melody, bass etc. That quickly and seamlessly integrates with your DAW both in terms of getting the sounds from the deivce to the daw, but also function as a controller to keep working, sequencing and playing I think Its an incredible idea. Not having clock sync is very annyoing, and hopefully something that can be added both through the midi and usb. But I think its weird that people expect this to do everything. Its completely fine, and even preferable to have devices that fills niches and does some things well. Instead of having a bunch of devices that try to do too many things at once, and not really being great at anything.

There's a hidden limiter protecting the speaker. Apparently you can crank up the gain on the Dynamics or Saturator preset on main track; there's supposedly a fair bit of headroom. Not going to turn them into MPC Live 2 speakers but might help.
