You should have told this to Apple before they got rid of the headphone jack

How does a DAC like the dragonfly compare to the 2 you have shown? Does the type of cable used affect the sound as well and if so what is your recommend to pair with Sony XM5?

I must ask. Where is room for losses with LDAC (990kbps 32bit/96khz) vs FLAC (24bit/192khz) - most can hear up to 18khz, some a little over 21khz? What I'm asking is what is missing in the waveform that your hearing can sense? I can't understand.

Thank you for explaining this. I did not understand that so much is lost through bluetooth. Although bluetooth codecs have improved quite a bit, it is apparently still a long way from being what a wired connection is.

Does the sony XM5 support apple music lossless 24bit 192kHz form a IPhone with external DAC and wired connection.

Is the quality of sound going to be noticeable if we're just hooking up the headphones to a laptop/phone via audio jack vs via Bluetooth? That is, no fancy stuff like sb2000. Thank you.

I just got a pair of Soundpeats Air 4 pros and they come so close to my Sennheiser 660S headphones that a thought of selling that and my Hiby R6 III in favor of my Bluetooth buds and my phone. I can't give up the sound stage though.

So... isn't possible to use ANC headphones when they are connected via cable?

On the XM5s, when using in wired mode, does it make a difference whether the power is on or off? Are the onboard DACs, DSPs etc affecting the signal from the source then?

The wireless quality sounds absolutely amazing normally, but what worries me is when you connect to a call the quality drops to abysmal. I don't have this problem with wireless headphones that use a dongle instead of bluetooth

sony xm5 ldac sounds good enough when directly compared to my dt990pro wired. probably because ldac is 24bit 96khz, which already is overkill for youtube at least. another bonus: no cable noise

I bought the PX8 and in combination with my Xperia Pro i (APTX adaptive) and a Qobuz Abbo they sound incredibly good

I use my xm5s wired only (laptop) and they sound mediocre at best. I have to boost the 3-4 treble bands, literally, all the way up, and the 5-7 mid and bass bands way down. Is there some way to change the sound of the headphone itself? Mine just sound rather dull up top and generally pretty boxy, with way too much bottom.
