The Spin Tool [Blender 2.8]

An important note for this video is that the tool uses the 3D cursor as a pivot point for generating the mesh, so place the 3D cursor first to get the best results.

You forgot to mention that you need an object first and then delete the vertices in ‘edit object’ mode so you can follow the tutorial!!

Thank you SirPinkBeard! Very helpful, I kept missing the XYZ buttons at the top and was getting frustrated. Short, sweet, simple and complete.

Dude, I cannot get the spin tool on the screen without an object there for it. You might have started with how you did that!

thats great do you want to tell us how you set up blender to make that work

Sir pink beard, great instrucional videos esp because you add context Th set up of the 3d cursor to generate vertices the outset --at least in 2.8- (control right click) does'nt generate any vertices. Otherwise I have to first generate a plane then extrude vertices from it . What am I missing? Thanks; all else great !

This tool is driving me mad. I'm trying to do exactly what you did here, but when I the release LMB after dragging my spun shape, the newly formed spun section disappears and the tool behaviour becomes erratic and bizarre - the cursor changes to an upwards facing arrow and the axis controls do not respond to LMB, and spun shapes suddenly appear and disappear at seemingly random rotations as I move the cursor around. Either that or the rate of rotation is so small relative to the cursor that I have to scroll to the edge of the screen in order to create a tiny spin.

how have you been in edit mode without any mesh around? (start-->4:11)

Oops; Let me edit my gibberish in my last comment. In Blender 2.8 at least, I cannot seem to find a way to use 'control -right click' to generate vertices with my 3d cursor.

Rhino calls it revolve. I wish it used Bézier curves though.

Pointless video if you cant start the same way and hide the top of the program and dont descibe how you can see the spin tool
