Those who put food on our tables disproportionately experience food insecurity in their own homes. For more than seven years, UVM professor Teresa Mares has studied food access among the Latinx farmworker community in Vermont. Her ethnographic research illuminates the many ways workers sustain themselves and their families while also serving as the backbone of the state’s agricultural economy.

Teresa Mares is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Vermont and the author of the forthcoming book, The Other Border: Sustaining Farmworkers in the Dairy Industry.
