How to Import a Save File into Elden Ring | Quick Tutorial | 2024 (WORKS for DLC TOO)

How to import a save file from a cracked version of the game to the legit steam version? If you have a cracked/pirated copy of Elden Ring and switched to the Steam version, but see an error "Failed to load save data" then this video will provide the answers.
Elden Ring Save copier is a tool made by BenGrn, I do not own this tool, I have made this video to demonstrate how to use it since I couldn't find any video explaining it.

UPDATE: This also works with the new DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree update as well!

Thanks a lot, this worked perfectly! Please NOTE: This still works I just did it today. You can play multiplayer and you will see messages and bloodstains after a couple minutes. Takes time to render the map. Also your game save is completely the same as it was. This also worked for me from an outdated cracked version to the real version. SUPER SIMPLE! THANKS AGAIN! :D

You are a GODSEND. You have no idea how much this helped me. I had 200 hours on the steam version when after the latest update that POS Easy Anticheat causes my PC to crash. I had the exact same problem/situation that u had, I had around 20ish hours on pirated and wanted to play the online version and invade so this vid really helped and was really easy to follow. Good vid keep up the good work 👍

I first played the pirated version then I loved the game so I decided to buy the steam version. I used this method to transfer the save file from the 1.07 pirated version to the 1.08 steam version and it worked just fine. I can play online too. So thank you very much.

As of December 24, 2022, it still works. Transferred from version 1.06 pirate to 1.081 original steam. Thanks for the information.

Notes for others:
I dunno what version my non steam game was on but it was old so unsure why it's not working for others.
If you search %appdata% then go to the EldenRing folder, that's where you'll find your OG save file.

It's December 22th, Elden Ring went on sale and I wanna confirm again that this method does still work, I just did it since I wanted to play the game on steam deck and it worked like a charm

My cracked savefile was from 1.06 and transferring it over to 1.08 Steam worked with no issues.

This didn't work for me.
I copied the original save file to a folder on my desktop. Then uninstalled the cracked game, installed the original, made a new character, then used the .exe file to copy the cracked .sl2 save to the Appdata folder. I loaded the game and got my original character, same class and appearance, but starting off at 20 minutes of gameplay only. How its this possible?
