I love it when they actually know the characters they show in their games. It warms me that they gave a reasonable in character reason for Sonic getting caught as opposed to something stupid.

Sonic is literally the embodiment of heroism, he payed respect to shadow despite how much he screwed sonic over, always turns his enemies into ally’s (except eggman) instead of destroying them, sacrificed himself in sonic 2, and even protected eggman after he turned into Mr.Tinker in the comics, sonic has earned his title.

Sonic could’ve outrun Galeem, even if you look at the requirements given by Sakurai, he says you need to be able to defy the laws of physics to outrun Galeems light. Sonic on multiple occasions have run faster than time which does defy physics. So I think it’s accurate to think of this as a nerf, especially considering that Sonic is the only character shown trying to save someone.

tbh if sonic didnt want to save pikachu bro would of been with with kirby in story mode. The fact that he slowed down to help out with pikachu shows how much sonic's kindess is against saving others. Knowing that he tried to help if he did succesfully escape while saving pikachu we would know that sonic would be playable along with pikachu and kirby in the beginning of the story mode.
