Ah yes... Harry Potter and the Half Stoned Goblin of Azerbaijan was truly a turning point in the series. I recall they all got much higher than the Leviosa spells allowed them in previous installations.

'Studio set' is such a great way to describe some game design in terms of environment. I've never put my finger on it but this description nails exactly what the issue is with a lot of games.

The fact that mac reviewed a triple A game and didnt almost have a stroke shows that they did a pretty good job

I like the fact that you have to look for pages and attend classes to "learn". Combat doesn't give you too much xp, but imo that makes sense in the lore. Wizards in harry potter get more powerful by gaining knowledge, and thats essentially where you'll get most of your xp.

1800's Scotland with anachronistic demographics to a laughable degree, AND you can't even pick a white skin tone for yourself; olive is the lightest. Not to mention the absurdity of the Sirona character. Wokeness ruins everything.

Honestly, I feel like Mack giving this a thumbs up is the strongest endorsement you can get for a AAA game as he holds them to a much higher standard than most.

The game world is so masterfully crafted that I do not actually mind the busywork. I have already spent hours just running around Hogwarts admiring what devs have done to make it look like Hogwarts. But I am a fan so I can also look past the negative things easier.

I think you're spot on, I grew up reading and watching harry potter and for me the feeling I get running around Hogwarts is what gaming should be, it makes me smile it make me lose myself in an environment I love and have fond memories of. If your a Harry Potter fan buy this game if not it might not be you're cup of tea. A question for anyone reading what "environment/game" from your childhood would you love to see?

A controller can EASILY handle more spells. Elite Dangerous practically uses the entire keyboard but it translates flawlessly to controller. It's not a device problem it's a developer problem

The 4 spell thing isn't even a pad limitation, lots of games use something like hold RB or LB for a different spell wheel. In this case it's like this to make it overtly simple, like everything else in the game. World looks fun tho, will play in 12 months maybe.
