I have 100 hours in this game. But thats stretching everything. I think i went through every cave, every enemy camp, did all the quests, and tried to unlock every door, got all the animals for room of requirement, have all the shinies, etc. But ngl i dont think i could do that again. I enjoyed exploring so i think out of those 100 hrs, 75% is like exploration and just riding the broom. The side quests are boring and you dont really feel attached to the characters. If you came from playing witcher 3, elden ring, or even zelda totk and botw, i honestly dont think you would 100% enjoy this except if youre a huge harry potter fan.

So I bought this game a few hours ago and proceeded to play through the entire tutorial and some extra stuff what's my gaming session in the at about 5 hours. Every other game that has a slow paced tutorial I tend to get bored on before you can completing it( Dying Light for example) however I found myself playing through the tutorial immersing myself in the Hogwarts Castle- something I did not expect to do as I'm coming down from an excessive amount of Elden ring- but the immersion this game oozes out was enough to keep me gripped along with the surprisingly deep story. It also helps that while my character has some blankness to apply yourself on them they have their own character.

And I never thought I would like an arpg that focused more on strategy during combat then just wailing on your opponent but the combat in this game is actually quite good and I love how it doesn't have a ton of options but the options that are there are deep and rewarding.

I haven't played more than 5 hours though but I'm actually very happy to continue if the story continues to be this good and I'm also happy to say the map is not as massive as it looks and I kind of am excited to explore it. Something about this game reminds me of the original Dragon's Dogma combined with a bit of Final Fantasy but in the Harry Potter universe.

"Hogwarts legacy is one of the most iconic games ever made." This is how to immediately lose all credibility with your audience. It's too new to throw around words like "iconic"

I got the game three weeks ago for the Nintendo Switch. My wife and I are hardcore potter fans, and we’re obsessed with it. The downside on the switch is that graphics and performance take a significant hit. The game is still playable, but the blurry graphics give us headaches. Also, the endless number of load screens is really annoying. The game goes to a 30-60 second load screen every time you enter a door in Hogsmeade, for example. This made one of the starter quests take forever, as we had to go into multiple shops to buy things. I’ve played 25 hours so far, and I’d say that at least 1-2 hours of that is load screens.

That said, I still love the game. It’s everything a Harry Potter fan could ask for. I’m considering getting a PS5 just for this one game, as I can see myself playing and replaying it for a long time

THIS IS WHAT I WANTED:
1. no major external threat
2. many classes (challenging)
3. goofy side missions (like giving crab and goyle the cupcakes type of stuff)
4. even bigger castle (no big countryside just the forest/hogsmeade and the castle)
5. quidditch (instead of this god awful looking new quidditch game coming up)
6. house cup
7. sneaking at night quests
8. a bigger and scarier forbidden forest
9. detention side quests
10. a personal owl that interacts with you
11. arriving and leaving at kings cross / platform 9 3/4
12. finding the secret passages
13. potion classes
14. O.W.L's
15. Bully/Rival (like Draco)
16. Cozy Christmas/Halloween scenes with lighthearted fun quests
17. Meeting Harrys great grandfather or something
18. 1 Evil teacher with a hidden motive to stop instead of a Goblin antagonist
19. Better dueling club with optional spell classes to be earned
20. Dementors and Expecto Patronum (Dont know how but they could have figured it out)
21. Choosing between christmas at hogwarts or at home/diagon alley?
22. Diagon Alley shopping spree beginning of the year.
23. A tight friend trio (like Harry, Ron, Hermione)
24. Side quests where you have to hide from another Filch type character(squib janitor)
25. Actual consequences to your actions
26. Meeting Voldemorts grandfather at hogwarts(already kind of evil / Maybe a Draco malfoy type)
27. Being able to read the daily prophet a few times
28. Ministry of Magic mission at the beginning of the year to discuss the fact you dont start in The 1st year
29. NO UNFORGIVABLE CURSES (i hated this)
30. Befriend the game keeper (for some fun Care of Magical creatures side quests)

I just bought it as a huge Harry Potter fan for $21 and I’m literally having the time of my life. If you’re also an hp fan, this game will be everything to you too. Otherwise, it’s just a very fun and expansive rpg. Would strongly recommend for all

Im 37 years old, and I've been playing video games since I was 5 years old. So I've played a lot of video games, and Hogwarts Legacy has got to be one of my favorite games of all time. If you haven't played it yet, do yourself a favor and get it ASAP. My step sister who never played video games in her life ended up loving this game.

This game is beautiful, and wow-ed me when I first started.

That said, the plot is linear and the game mechanics (e.g. fights) and puzzles are cool at first, but it gets old over time because it is the same thing over and over again.

I will only recommend this game for hardcore potter fans, (very) casual gamers or younger players.

I’ve spent over 500 hours on this game. It’s well worth the money! But this video lied about at least a couple things. There is no morality system whatsoever. The only time you can choose an evil outcome is at the end and then you get one of 3 “outcomes”, which only change the ending cutscene ever so slightly. The rest of the time, you will have the exact same experience no matter what you choose to say. Another thing is that you do not gain relationships with anyone. There are a few characters that have story lines to complete. Some of them are counted as side quests and others are main quests that you must complete in order to progress any further. The way that you interact with them do not change your standing in the school at all.

I found Hogwarts Legacy incredibly shallow in its mechanics and story. It left me with a "meh".
Sure, the world is beautiful but in many ways it's pretty generic, like, the main character has 0 personality!

I remember playing the first Harry Potter game back on the PS1 & I absolutely loved it... anyone who's played it remembers "CONCENTRATE POTTER, AND TRY AGAIN!" Seeing something like this back then would have caused me to have a conniption.

Ngl, I'm not the fan of Harry Potter I used to be...but I do still like it. Just checking this to see if it's worth it.

It's on sale on steam right now like 70% off but as a Souls-like/RDR2/Witcher/God of War player I feel like the combat looks shallow and repetitive

People need to stop using the word iconic so much. Not everything is iconic

The game is fun tge first 5-10 hours. But after that it all feels the same way and you get kicked out of Hogwarts and the open world is empty.
There are basically only 5 enemy types and you have a few combo sets and tge rest of spells aren't used.
It had potential, but they cut content for tge open world checklists and size.
Several of the most interesting things for the Potter fans happen at the beginning of the game. And then it is just a generic 24/7 open world game.

I bought this game for $70 when it came out, and think it's amazing so, if you can get it for around $20 I'd say do it. The only thing for me is that after I upgraded my character, I found the game to be very easy, even on hard mode.

I played this game for 6 hours to realize that this is not for me. I heard over and over how good this game is: the mechanics, story, combat system, graphics, so on.
The only thing I personally liked was the graphics. It is very nice wandering through Hogwarts and its surroundings. It adds some visual context to the books and movie.
I feel the story kind of teen compared to other arpg that I like more such as Witcher and Shadow of War.
The combat system is innovative, it's more strategic with all the deflect and dodge and focused on the character rather than the enemies. Still, I think this is a bit odd, I really enjoy fast paced combat systems where you dish out damage everywhere like in the examples above.
There are too much useless and time consuming stuff to go after: potions, herbs, talents, spells, mounts, brooms, the list goes on, it's overwhelming. The funny thing is you just need the required spells and healing potion to make through the game. The other stuff is just there to consume time.
The look of the gears is crap. I get myself thinking how robs, capes, and scarfs, can protect someone from axes and swords. I know it sounds a bit senseless but the cosmetic of games as well as the story are elements that take pretty much of my attention. The story is good but not extraordinary as in the books.
Finally, I get several minor bugs such as NPCs crossing walls going throughout my game play. They were not disruptive, however, the loading time when crossing from one map to another is annoying.

I bought this game for 17 bucks, I think this was a fair price. It fits well Harry Potter fans. Other than that, there are definitely better games out there to put down our money.
