I’ll be honest, I expected Hogwarts Legacy to be a broken, buggy, cash-grab - because that's just the way it goes these days with so many licensed games.

Every trailer seemed almost too good to be true, and I thought, for sure, I was going to be severely disappointed once I got my hands on the game.

But here’s the deal: Hogwarts Legacy may not revolutionize the genre of open world games, but, surprisingly, it does most things right.

There’s so much to see and do. The developers were obviously very passionate about the source material, and the result is the most detailed portrayal of Hogwarts and the Wizarding World we’ve seen in a game.

Also, I was convinced that there was no way a combat system that was entirely spells like levioso and incendio would work, but I found the combat to not just be functional but actually quite challenging and fun.

Look, I’m not going to say that this game doesn’t somewhat rely on nostalgia, but, in my mind, Hogwarts Legacy is more than just for Harry Potter fans.

Let me know, do you agree and think that this is an experience that any gamer could enjoy?

Did you choose to unlock and use the unforgivable curses? Why or why not?

Never read or seen a single harry potter book or movie. Saw this game on sale and I heard many people say it was good. Bought it to try and now I’m watching the movies cause I really enjoyed the world I was playing in.

As a non Harry Potter fan who's never seen the movies or read the books, this game is really really fun. It starts off slow but it's becomes really fun really fast.

Getting to find all the little places around Hogwarts that I recognize from the movies is an amazing feeling. The prison Sirius was in on top of the charms tower. The stairwell Fred and George pulled Harry in to give Harry the Mauraders Map. The rocks where Hermione socked Draco. The headmasters Gryphon office entrance. The kitchen behind the pear painting you can tickle. The One Eyed Witch passage. The SQUID. The boat cave. Hell this game has brought tears to my eyes just from sheer nostalgia so many times

Best thing about the combat by far is the unique enemy types and their specific Achilles heel. Makes you feel like a total badass when you expel a goblins axe and throw it at him while ripping the charged arrow from another while slamming a matriarch’s head into the ground.

I advise everyone to play on hard difficulty - the combat is worth it.

Legit a 10/10 game. I'm super happy they did justice to the Hogwarts and it's a nice breath of fresh air to have a licensed game actually be a finished refined game.🎉🎉

This is the best Wizarding World game we've got so far. The fact that there is a lot to explore and it's all alive with people doing things and having conversations. They've done a lot but there is always room for more which I hope to see in the director's cut or the squeal.

I think it would be a more enjoyable game if I could sit down at the house table in the Great Hall. I can't believe that the developers couldn't make it so we can sit and chill. I know we can in order to take a picture but it isn't better than feeling the nostalgia of the game.

This game ain't no soulless cashgrab. It's made by truly passionate people who have been updating the game to fix bugs and glitches. They want people to enjoy it

So, before I got this game in October, I had played maybe 5 hours of a video game total since January. Not usually a big fan, I just turned the game off at 69 hours in a little over a month. I love how expansive the world is, I feel there is more open world in this than most open world games. If you run with an NPC on a quest, THE NPC RUNS. That alone is one of my biggest complaints with video games, the awful run-stop-run-stop mechanic. Then, we get to opening doors and rooms. For a majority of the game, it buffers for a second but you can enter most rooms without an actual loading/cut screen. Most rooms in hogwarts? Quick buffer. Most places in homemade? Same thing. 90% of the “world map?” You guessed it. That’s another complaint with other games, unnecessary loading screens for a maybe 5 room house. I love this game so much, I honestly might play it with all the houses and see how it goes!

I'll tell it to you all straight. I'm something of a potter head, myself. I didn't really know what to expect with this game. I was hoping it would be good. I had heard a lot about it while it was available for a few systems only at the time. I watched another Youtuber's playthrough of it, and the first quest alone was enough to blow me away. I had my guesses as to what this game would be like, and it left those behind in the dust, a long time ago. It's so much more than what I realized, and immediately decided to buy the PS4 version. (couldn't possibly have waited for the switch version.) And I was NEVER disappointed by it, once. (Hated the fact that the jerk headmaster cancelled Quidditch, would have gone crazy with that.) I now have have played the game 3 times, working on the 4th playthrough now. (Also the game has that same bridge where Harry and Lupin were speaking, so much Nostalgia, there! 😂)

I mean it was alright. A lot of stuff felt bad though. "Companions" not really being companions or interacting with you outside of their quests. Scrapped systems like the evil/good alignment system. Etc. Hoping they take their time with the sequel. Id rather wait and get a more polished game.

I recently purchased it and it is a great game. You don't have to go to classes every day or have pets, or they don't keep up with points, but it is very fun to play, visually amazing as well as challenging and you can make your character look the way you want and the background music is pleasant and the controls are easy going not to complex to use. I haven't even finished 20% of it and looking forward to the rest of it. It grabs you and pulls you in and before you know it you've been playing for hours

I absolute LOVED the storyline and companion quests of Hogwarts Legacy- and I think it was probably the most fun combat I've seen in a video game for a long time

120+ hours on just my first playthrough i had in this game. AMAZING GAME. Not even as a harry potter fan, but as a video gamer. Everything about this game is amazing. There are bugs. Some puzzles don't always work, get stuck in random spots, sometimes it'll load you in and things are scewed. Etc. But thats not often and regardless of that, theyre really just small in the grand scheme of things. It's so good!!

The learning curve of the combat system took me by surprise, even now I still sometimes kinda fumble a combo or two.

It is fun. It does still have a lot of issues in my opinion that I think they can expand on either in DLC or in the next game though, including a better story, combat and enemy variants more locations, etc maybe make the game a little bit more than a random trophy scavenger hunt, too, which is what majority of it was

The map itself was perfect but the amount of activities and side quests made it a bit too boring especially post campaign. Would've loved newgame plus too so I didnt have to grind again.

Exactly, this is not only for Harry Potter fans, but there are people around me who have not seen Harry Potter at all, but love this game

My only gripe is there’s nothing to do after you beat the game 😂
