Bear hunting suit? o_O #wtf #weird #history

This suit is widely believed to be a 19th century Siberian bear hunting costume, but its actual origin and purpose are yet unclear. Most probably it was produced in Germany or Switzerland around that time, but what it was used for remains a mystery. It consists of leather pants and jacket, and an iron helmet studded with 1 inch iron nails all over the surface. Currently it is exhibited at the private museum of Menil family in Houston, Texas.
