Well from a Christian perspective, we get our way of life from the New Testament, examples from Jesus. We shouldn't be getting our morals from the old testament laws because obviously a lot of them are wild and don't really fit

Dude is so out of his depth it is laughable. Christians pretty much universally view the old testament as good context - but basically made irrelevant with the arrival of Jesus.
