We can feel the distress in Sansa's eyes, a clear lack of affection because of the misfortunes caused to her by the Lannisters and the Boltons.
When she sees Jon for the first time and jumps into his arms, the look changes, finally reassured to be safe. She probably saw Ned in Jon. She needed this hug so bad. This scene is very well played by Sophie.

I love that little time Jon waits before running to the hug, it's like he's impressed to see the grown woman Sansa became, and that she managed to go all the way from wherever she was (Winterfell) to the Castle Black. With the hug came relief that his little sister was alive and well, and now, safe with him.
