How to calibrate compass on Android

In this video, I'll show you how to fix your compass on your mobile device (Android).
A week ago, I had a problem with the compass on my Samsung Galaxy S4.
It didn't work and showed constantly the wrong direction.
This was very annoying, especially in Google Maps.
So this is how I fixed it.

This fix worked really well!!! I thought my tablet's compass had broken. I didn't know before the calibration required revolving at each each of the 3 axis.

My tablet is now my new GPS!

Great information. JB 4.3 really messed up my GS4 in a few ways, no calibration for the gyroscope was one of the most disturbing finds.

Thanks. I was battling to find a way to calibrate the magnetic compass, but was getting conflicting advice from other sources.
One thing though, that I did find, was that I had to rotate my S4 a full 360 degrees in each of the 3 axes before the calibration worked (rather than the 180 degrees back and forth in each direction as shown your video.

Tell me please. Why compass need acess to camera on smartphone?

You should delete this video silent guy, its ancient and does not work on newer Android. The fix is just simply open Google maps, wave around figure eight flipping all axis rave style 5 times. Close maps, open and do it again... fixed :)
