Regarding the monitor, most of them actually operate off of 5vs, but has a part in it that lowers the voltage (hence why popping in 5v just doesn't cut it). There was a tutorial I followed to mod mine to work without the regulator (and thus, made the monitor 5v itself), but I deviated from it to keep the original power cable.

Very very good video, yes you do explain thoroughly and you have a nice set up there, As for me I'm looking to use this as a field monitor for my camera set up, I was looking to see What exactly came in the box and you showed everything cables and all, there is a smaller 3.5 version of this but I think that seems be too small for either of us or anyone really, you're video has definitely helped me make my decision, much appreciation for this video, thank you 💯

@ Gaming Taddel
I power the screen using a universal adapter. Another viewer last year explained that a 5v power supply could work. But then they also said that it may need more than 5v to power it depending on other devices connected. If you go to a Frys store they can usually give you some power option that can be portable. You likely want something light weight. Another option is powering using some sort of wire snaps and hacking the wire snaps and your wiring to the screen. But I think the screen wiring has a sort of plug. Please let me know how it works!

Be sure to connect your screen to power . Also if you can test your connection to a different screen just to be sure your connection actually works. If the connection is only not working on the TFT, I would say there may be something wrong with your try or wrong with maybe some of the wires on the tft. But first I would say to be sure you have adequate power.

I have one power cable. It is a universal adapter. I use this to power the monitor.

Nice video!  You explain things more thoroughly that some other people.  On question: i want to make a tiny computer to bring to school or something but I want to power everything through one block.  I was thinking of finding a 5V output from the screen after putting 12V or so in the monitor.  Will this work?  I've seen someone use this as an advantage.

Really liked your video - good job.  I'm wondering what the resolution on the monitor is?  I think most of those small TFT monitors are 480x272 - is that the case with yours?  I'm curious because I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Hi Grace, I recently bought two cheap 7' TFT monitors from ebay: VT-60THM (for HGV) but the problem I didn't thought about is about power in, on this screen there is only one VGA cable. Do you know if VGA actually carry the power in? I tried to plug it (the vga cable) on my computer but nothing happens. Maybe VGA out from computers do not deliver power, should I use a VGA splitter for the power?
I'm actually trying to display my IP camera on both screens using a raspberry pi and willing if I should buy or not the splitter or if it won't change anything

It is very bad for the pi to plug it into the laptop because it may have 5v but the amperage is low
