It’s good to see a more in depth tutorial about mixing in key. I’ve always been in the impression that you could only go to the immediate key to the left/right/up/down and didn’t know you can jump 2 keys on the same row. This has opened up my music library further with more possibilities! Thanks 👌🏻

This guy is spot on in what he's saying, my sets have gone thru the roof after watching this video.

That's the most informative video about mixing in key I've seen. Thanks for explanation.

Thanks for the awesome tutorial, the other videos dont tell you you can jump 2 or 3, was thinking I was going to have to download 200 tracks before I could make a set and constantly looking for songs in a certain key to fill the gaps, , I'm fussy enough as it is, nice tracks by the way!

I have perfect pitch & are musically trained. I also DJ'd for 15 years the old way. When I switched from playing an instrument to "da wheels of steel ", it never occurred to me, that I was mixing in key or the transition tricks I used was made to jump to various tempos. This video is gr8 teaching tool. Very much needed music theory condensed & concise.

Really helpful! Love the way how you mix by cutting off only the low end

When mixing heavy techno or hard music in general it's good to play with the rules to create a sense of "dissonance" too. There is no such thing as wrong when switching from a key to the other, unless it really goes against the vibe of your set. Every tonal jump has its own unique feeling. I would never do it if I were playing melodic house or techno, but with dark and industrial it adds to the sense of alienation you want in your sets.

That being said, the general breakdown of the rules is correct, thanks. But "how to prepare a DJ set" one would expect tips on how to build one energy wise too maybe!

E se fai un tutorial in inglese consiglierei di mettere traktor in inglese

I use the harmonic key when mixing trance or house music.
But mostly, I mix breakbeat hardcore.... there are no rules 🤣

There is something I’m a little confused by. It seems that you can jump to any key within the same circle, and when you want to jump from a major to a minor key or vice versa, you stay in the same number and go from there? Is that right?

Your voice is very calm and motivating & great explanation! <3 Do you usually prepare exact playing order of songs before gig or do you always choose them spontanously at gig? What about bpm, do you go from lower to higher? How to choose the first and closing track?

It's a nice mixing-tool based of course on the western harmony theory. John Cage would say modulate completely free...

You can choose for one of the above gifts
