Not even in eternity past did we seek God. The Bible describes us as being spiritually dead. We are ALL dead in our trespasses and sins for "The wages of sin is death". God pays us in death for our sins like a guilty criminal. It takes God's omnipotent hand to raise us to new life in Christ. It's not that He hates some and forces them to go to hell. We are ALL heading for hell and He chooses to give mercy to some.

But God, being rich in mercy, not desiring that any should perish, sent His Son to die in our place. We broke God's law and He paid the fine. That shows God's beautiful mercy to all that call upon Him.
