Thank you for the comprehensive and good quality video! One thing that I never found on YouTube about the C40 or the XC40 is a good comparison between trim levels. The price difference between the base car and the top spec is large, and I don't know if an intermediate trim level spec would suffice. Most YouTube channels seem to be willing to show only the most expensive specs. Cheers!

Thank's Thom. Great Impressions on the new MY24. I catched up my XC40 a few days ago.

Loved the intro 👌 Also share your thoughts about OPD in Auto. Pretty confusing, so I won't use that again. But I've never been a fan of the regular OPD either..

Thx for the test, Thom!
I am a bit disappointed about the charging performance. My MY23 C40 Twin charged with 159kW at 36% at a Tesla supercharger a week ago. And it really keeps a high level (> 120kW) until around 60%, and then only it drops slowly

Thanks for your videos.
Always good to see your experiences and thoughts of a car I currently have on order.

Another great video Thom! I’ve always loved the C40 and this one looks great in the Cloud Blue, but I’ve ordered the new LRSM Polestar 2 because it’s a bit more value and because I’m in Australia so the extra range is key at the moment. Also I like infotainment and cockpit cabin and sleek but solid look.
That new one-pedal mode is interesting, I assume that’s Volvo specific? Also I’ll be keen to see some more analysis and testing of the charging curve.
I hope to own my P2 for at least a decade and the extra capacity means even when the battery unavoidably degrades, I’ll still have lots of range! I have not been able to find out much about the CATL 82kwh 27-module unit - I heard the modules are replaceable, which is interesting, does that mean in 10 years I can replace them with LFP modules or some other kind of tech and keep the car going forever! Ps I’ll also post this on your Insta feed

À bientôt : je me réjouis énormément !

Nice video gozer👌🏻. The part about the OPD could be explained a little better. The explanation was the same as your experience with it confusing 😂. Keep up the good work. Will be receiving my C40 and maybe catch you somewhere on the Dutch roads

I drive a 2021 e-tron, and it doesn’t have OPD, just has the auto regen coasting, and I like it, especially in the Peak District in the UK.
I did the drive yesterday and hardly had to use my accelerator. It’s also a bit more intuitive in that it slows down towards roundabouts and cross roads, must use GPS.
I’ve ordered a MY24 XC40 recharge twin for December, so will be nice to have have a similar system as an option.

Thom, thank you for your review.
Regarding "Auto" mode for recuperation - initially I thought it should be quite similar to an IC car in engine braking mode. But seems it is not )
Could you tell you impression if auto recuperation mode can be compared with IC car engine breaking?

Currently waiting for my XC40 extended range. Interesting new one pedal drive. How do you find the consumption compared to the previous versions?

I drive an Ix3 and i have a family holiday long journey coming up which will incur charges on route, which I am concerned about. So the longer the range the better.

I don’t know what was wrong with your charging station. When I charge the c40 2024 it will maintain a speed of 150 kw until like 70%.

For charging… I haven‘t driven my 24 C40 Twin down to 10%, but I had it plugged into a 150kW charger at ~50% SoC and I was getting around 130kW dropping to 120kW as it went past 55%. Something seemed not right either with your charger or the car.

Love the FastNed station design. I would take the RWD car since I don't need AWD, though the power in my 2022 XC40 Recharge AWD is a lot of fun.

The auto OPD is present in both single and twin engine versions? And in the XC40 MY24 too? Cheers

Oddly, Volvo’s US press release shows the US spec 2024 RWD models getting the new 82 kWh battery pack and 200 kW charging, and the AWD/dual motor models getting the current 78 kWh battery/150 kW charging.

The auto one pedal drive is interesting. I don't like one pedal driving where you cannot coast; the only one pedal I've experienced you are either providing power or braking. Plus it makes my wife carsick. I don't want the car to limit acceleration because there is a vehicle in front if I step on the "gas" (if I understand correctly what Thom is describing). With adaptive cruise control or Pilot Assist the car will accelerate above the set speed if the driver applies more pedal. I wonder why auto one pedal wouldn't let you override it if you need to?
