How to get OLD Steam Layout (After 2018 UI update)

I'm sorry to say this, but this video is currently out of date. Unfortunately this way and all other "way arounds" were patched by Valve. This video was released back in mid 2018, just when new steam UI was launched for the first time. You can however try this "newer" command but I'm pretty sure that it was already patched long time ago.

Newer fix not shown in the video (out of date 2020):

Personally, I find the newest Steam layout for chat ui plain awful.
I was searching for a way how to revert this new look back to the original state and this seems to be the only solution for now.
Remember to that you have to always run Steam trough this exact shortcut all the time, otherwise you will see the new UI showing up again!

Its designed to be more like these stupid social it lost some funtionality already....for example noted nicknames for people only show up when you directly select them. there are less people shown in same size window, it needlessly shows them grouped in games they really just should leave official option to disable that.... in the steam settings

If they are going to patch this at least give us a option in steam to change the style to this how hard could it be? Edit never mind I got it to work by using both of them at the same time "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" "-steamos" "-no-browser"

I don't get why they cant add a simple thing where you can switch between the new and old layout

This also has the side effect of disabling the in-Steam browser. Any way to fix this?

"-steamos" does not work for me and "-no-browser" disables my library

Thank God i always make a backup of programs(x86)/steam, just deleted steam folder in programs(x86) and replaced it with the backup steam folder and reverted back but now steam is always warning me that a new update is ready with the new ui, is it possible to block it in definitions? With the new UI the only way to see my non steam games with my personalized images is in big picture mode!

If you have Steam pinned on your taskbar and you want to add the code to it, you can do the following :
- Press Win + R
- Paste the following in there : %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
- Right click the Steam shortcut in the window that just opened
- Make the changes to the Steam shortcut as you would on the desktop shortcut

the point is that the new chat did just stop working today on my pc and had to turn it back to the old one and to be honest the new chat were useless and the old one much easier much better thx alot
