Thanks, this is a lifesaver. It's so inconvenient when you try to click the back button and it just brings you back to whatever steam tab you were on instead of link (for example from workshop to library instead of me just wanting to go back to the workshop search instead of the bloody library).

It doesn't seem to work on the August 2023 version of Steam. Using -vgui just uses the new UI anyway. You'll have to revert to the June/July version in order to get the old UI. I don't know if every feature like Achievements will work as it gets older.

Thanks so much man. The reason i like the old UI more is because its much easier to make custom controller schemes with the old UI. When you open Steam, make sure you hit view in the top left corner then change it to small mode, then right click the game you wanna edit the controller config for, then you should have the old UI for that too. You just click the button you wanna adjust instead of having to go through all these different menus

i was using steam with "-vgui" command for a month but after today's update it's goes back to again into new version with "-vgui" command and i again lost my music player!
now how to get back again to old ui?

It's been 5 years & the "new" chat UI still got the same issues it had since launch!
- Chat gets unfocused
- Tabs don't fit to name (unlike old UI, specially if you use nicknames feature)
- Small sized and unadjustable

I hate it when every fucking company "fixes" an uproblematic thing like their UI, it worked fine, we got used to it, i never saw anyone complain about it, why randomly update it and make it so much shittier, i cant even shift tab anymore i have to alt tab to the see the in game overlay like come on, tnx for the guide

the new steam ui was a hot mess for me, I couldn't click on the top menu and it would occasionally glitch out using black squares, im glad that this works considering how everything works now

I dont mind the new UI, but my biggest issue is since updating steam hovering over certain areas in the new UI causes it to freeze and completely be un-usable, so I have to either force crash it or restart steam...
if anyone else has this issue, does changing the startup to -vgui fix the freezing and unresponsitiveness?

Update: it does fix it, however this would work until steam decides to disable this -vgui option.

I find the new UI for controller settings overly complicated, lack clear instructions and their documentation is still for the old UI.
