I'm with you all the way on each step. I'm building a 4-53 which is basically the same as far as progression of steps, except for an additional cylinder. Your guidance is certainly invaluable to me. In fact, I download them all to watch on laptop in the shop when I get stumped. After seeing the first of your videos, I've been SUBSCRIBED. Kind thanks!

Wish you were my neighbor...Merry Christmas Happy New Year... Looking forward to you putting on the oil pan gasket and how you make sure it seals and also how you torque it down...great job...

Is a number 2 housing the one for the Allison automatic and the number one for a standard shift transmission? Nice work!!!!

Good evening Detroit garage.

I just revived a 353 in my old Clark Michigan 35AWS.

Got it started finally and then realized I had some hydraulic leaks in the steering. Fix those successfully and then fired it up again. Things were going well, seemed like some air was bleeding out of the fuel as I could hear it bubbling back in the tank. Once it had started to run smoothly and I adjusted the idle I was pretty happy until all the sudden a catastrophic failure of the rear main seal. I wonder if you have any advice on why this failed Before I dig into repairing it? Another thing I noticed is the oil level seems high. It is not an original dipstick but from what I can tell the oil level is about an inch and a half above the oil pan gasket surface. It is hard to tell if it is diluted with diesel, but it does seem thinner than normal. But it doesn't have a super strong odor of diesel

Thank you for any advice

I picked up a new old stock engine for my skidder. Problem is that the starter is on the opposite side on the flywheel housing. Everything else seems to be correct. Is it possible to just swap the housing from the old motor to the new one? How big of a project is that? Would I be better off just leaving it and finding a starter for that side. Thanks

Do you use any high tack gasket sealer on the flywheel housing gasket? Also do you use anything to lube the crankshaft where it mates with the inner lip of the rear main seal
