Gravity Falls - Theme (Negative Harmony - Cover)

Negative harmony is basically taking the harmony of a song and inverting it. I wanted to try it myself, so I made this.

----------------------------------------
Inspired by Steve Cruickshank's "All Star Negative Harmony".
----------------------------------------
To make this, I remade some of the original theme with Midi instruments and simply used the invert function on Ableton. Most of the percussion used here is from the original theme.
----------------------------------------
Should I do this for more songs? Leave a suggestion in the comments if you'd like!
----------------------------------------
Original composition by Brad Breeck.

Feels like something Bill Cypher would do to try deceive the other characters into thinking everything is fine when, deep down, you know it isn't

This sounds like the intro to a dipper equivalent of Mabel's bubble. Like its still got the mystery vibe with more cheer, but something is definitely off.

It would be so cool if a show had an intro normally and the outro was the same but negative harmony

It sounds like a completely different song, I love it

This honestly fits Weirdmageddon's intro a lot more XD

This sounds like if bill cipher sent dipper/mabel to an alternate universe in a two parter and this would be the intro to the epsode

It feels right and wrong at the same time, and brain starts to itch a little, beautifully.

I swear, this melody would be the intro to Reverse Falls😂

How is this both calming and stressing at the same time?!
I feel relaxed and yet my heart is pounding
Is there something right with me? Something _wrong_ with me?
*... Is there something **_morally gray_** with me...?* 😰

This breaks my mind, pieces it back together, and destroys it again. Perfect!

Music Theory Time:
There are 2 different ways you can resolve a piece of music: The happier, grander chords such as 2 and 5 (the chords rooted on the second and fifth of a scale) and the tenser, darker chords such as the 4 and 7. All notes of a scale have chords with them as a root. Negative harmony replaces all happier chords with their darker counterparts and vice versa.

If you listen to this compared to the original, all the dark parts sound light and vice versa. The negative harmony is the reason: The mysterious chords are replaced with grand chords, the happy with sad, and the cozy with the unsettling.

Pair this with a song that sounds spooky and mysterious with happy undertones and you get a song that is happy and cozy with a sense of unease.
