I’m 18 but I laugh uncontrollably whenever I feel sad for someone or if somebody tells me some dark shit like someone jst passed and they start crying, I feel bad for them and sad but like my brain doesn’t want me to feel bad so instead it just starts making me giggle and laugh but really I feel sad, like my body fights the sadness by tricking it into giggling uncontrollably, I need help I hate this about myself bc it makes me seem really fucked up and my brother and one of my cousins has this same problem too so we always talk to each other to try to help each other out& I smoke cbd whenever I go to funerals and stuff bc the cbd that makes you chill and relaxed so far has been the only solution I have found, I’ve tried pinching myself till I even bleed but it don’t stop the laughing it just makes it worse. Any advice would help, also when I was a kid I matured fast for my age bc I had to learn to survive and care for myself, I didn’t have a childhood, never watched sponge bob shows, I barely learned how to fix a tire on a bike at 18 bc I never have before and when I told my aunt, she was like”what happened to your childhood “ but yeah my childhood was a lot of survival and worrying about what my next meal was and also for my brothers. So maybe that has something to do with it but idk. And also I’m the middle child of 3 but I was always the “older brother”.

Ever since I was about 9 I would laugh uncontrollably for about 1 minute or a couple of seconds. I’m 17 now and it still occurs daily, however it had gotten easier to manage. There’s nothing that really triggers it, it’s so embarrassing since I have a job that requires a lot of verbal interaction and I go to school and the fact that I don’t know when it comes till it happens gets me mad

My friend laughs at everything but I don’t really know if he’s laughing... he’s kinda screaming/laughing at the same time when literally nothing happened. And then when something happens he laughs even more. But sometimes he’s just the sweetest person ever to live. He says he starts laughing at 2AM most of the times and he can’t control it. Idk if this is PDA but I think it might be...

I’m just looking this up. My father appears to be suffering from this and he has Parkinson’s & alzheimers disease. He laughs for no reason & cries at everything, it’s really upsetting to see & awful for him.

Hi, I have a question about PBA. I have had episodes of crying/laughing about 4 times within the last year, and just recently my first episode of purely laughter. However, I am healthy and have not suffered from anything on the list. I am 19 and typically I am a happy person. Should I be concerned that this happens to me, given that I do not have a medical past ?

I got PBA from benzodiazepine withdrawal, brain severely impacted, inflammation... I was on them for 40 years. I feel like I have ALS. I'm trying to recover.

Based on what you said at the beginning, the correct name should be "bulbar pseudoaffect", because "pseudobulbar" makes it seem like an affect that appears to depend from the bulb, but actually doesn't.
