I was raised a Baptist. At the end of a first date with a Catholic gentleman, he showed me his Church. We went inside and whoa! Eventually we sat in front of this "Gold Box, " and I didn't understand what it was (and he couldn't explain it to my understanding 😉). All of a sudden, I felt such contrition for my sins and didn't know what had happened. I knew I had to keep coming to figure it all out, so began attending Holy Mass. I never went back to the Baptist sect I had attended. 😊 This was in 1986. I was Baptized a Catholic in 1987. Listening to Dr. Hahn (and Kimberly Hahn) and reading their books has helped me understand this wonderful, Holy Faith even more. And has given me more confidence in defending the Faith.

This is my favourite video clip of Dr Hahn ever. To think he was prepared to be a grocery store helper because he could not continue as a protestant. Humility, honesty, fortitude, faith, hope, charity... integrity...Catholic. That is, Dr Hahn.

Yes, I was raised nondenominational and I ALWAYS felt like they were “playing church.” I searched everywhere for the true church. I found it in the Mass.

I know this is an old video, but Benedict is one person that I'm confident will be canonized at some point. His writings are truly saint tier.

I love to listen to Dr. Hahn's stories and anecdotes.... This man hungers for the truth. His love and understanding for the Catholic faith as a former Protestant ministers has helped me as someone born in the the Catholic Church understand and appreciate my faith all the more.

Amazing, it was Pope Benedict that gave us Dr. Scott Hahn who's a huge contribution to the Catholic Church :-)

I searched other churches as a young man and always felt something was missing...the Eucharist. I came home

What surprised me regarding the convertion is that :
A person converts to Catholicism after earnest study, sincere research, reflection, prayer and dedication. Whereas a person leaves Catholicism after a quarrel with the authorities, personal greed to satisfy ( divorce, abortion..)... Etc

I am an adult catechist, but what would I do if I saw Dr Hann coming over and asking me to teach him!? What a humble step he needed to give. What level of trust in God he needed to embrace? This is what I call “act of faith”, a big one…and big acts of faith makes us growth a lot in spiritual life. Today he is globally known and his books is translated in many languages. God bless you Dr Hann.

great respect to Dr Hahn for denying the path which led to comfort and riches for the harder, humble path which led to the truth. Dr Hahn shows great integrity for his choices in this.

Dr Hahn's conversion story is never boring. He had the best intellectual grasp of the issues he was struggling with, and passes on his milestones. He is an Every-Protestant in his story.

"playing church", "counterfeit"...perfect description of what I feel when I go with my folks each Christmas to their Episcopal midnight "mass"...I was baptized Episcopalian but converted to the Catholic faith and one true Church in 2013 at the age of 51.

Yay! I've been so close to returning to Catholicsm after 16 years away. During that time, I got involved in the occult before completely bottoming out in sin last year and turing to Christ. As someone with some occult understanding, I'm very cautious about Mariology and don't want to worship annnnything that isn't the one and only God. And yet, I feel Christ asking me "who do you say I am" in regards to devotion to His true church and recieving the Eucharist. Anyway, long story, but I discovered Scott Hahn recently and he's been helpful in getting a right perception on things in Catholicism and it's good to see him here.

Wow!! This is exactly what has been happening to me. After 46 years in the Pentecostal churches I can't stop reading everything Catholic and am busy with several books of the fathers. Have been shocked to see that what we call Christianity is actually a watered down joke, compared to what these forefathers went through. If I had know about this as an option earlier I would have considered religious life as a Vocation. I just still cannot swallow the whole praying to Mary thing, there is just no scriptural reference to this. However I have renewed respect to the worship, rituals and prayer life, inspired by my recent study mentor who is a nun. Would love to listen to more as I have no one to ask. Thank you for sharing
