What a unique and impressive toolset for the future of business using
AI - well done, Microsoft

Excel is still probably the most powerful table tool in terms of the wide functionalities it offers (graphs personalisation, sheet linkages,
cross tables, micro calculus into cross tables, macros..).
However, I'll illustrate one feature amongst a few which make people headaches while working in companies :

1 - We have a table with columns values and its corresponding data on an Excel sheet
2- We filter a few variables of this table
3- We copy one of the column we filtered outside the table to make values changes (ex : multiplying a number, applying a formula)
3- We now paste it back on the table

Everything seems ok, but actually, we didn't modify what we believed to do. In fact, the values that changed are also in between the cells that aren't currently filtered.

Excel believes that we paste back the values we just copied into the table before it was filtered. Hence, it copies them into rows we can't see..

Newcomers to Excel falling into this issue loose confidence in the tool. People working for years on the tool make the mistake at some point when they are busier or less energetic for a day.

How to proceed to avoid this to happens ?

1- Pasting the new changed cells in the same column as values (outside the table) when the table isn't filtered
2 - Refiltering the table
3 - Using equal sign to forward the modified cell (ex : A5 = H5)
4 - Defiltering the table
5 - Copying the newly changed column
6 - Pasting it with option "values only"
7 - Deleting the helper column (outside table)

Seven steps.. It's how complexe the process can be to make one calculus.

The improvements regarding usability and people satisfaction towards "what they would like to do" versus "what Excel actually do" could have measurable impacts on all businesses.
