Americans don’t like all that ice in their drinks. Restaurants do that so they use less of the liquid saving them money

I HATE having so much ice. Sometimes it's good if the drink is overly sweet and I need the ice to melt to water it down. But if the drink is perfect, having a lot of ice melting ruins it.
