I wouldn't consider an instant pot a gadget. I would consider it an appliance.

Fun fact: a friend of mine gave me a Salad Shooter as a gag gift a few years ago. I now use it 2-3 times a week...it's like a more compact, easier to clean food processor!

What I remember about Vitamix more than anything was the YouTube channel "Will It Blend" where you can had a coky old guy blending up random things thing iPhones to showcase the power of them.

What I was told about the shape of the Vitamix shape is that they are designed that way so that when it's running it creates a vortex inside that helps to pull ingredients from the top to the bottom ensuring more uniformity. No clue if that is true but the idea made sense in my head when my Chef told it to me.

An oyster shucking glove is a great thing to have around in general but really good when using the mandolin or cutting/peeling small things in your hand.

We make fun of unitaskers a lot but many of them are not designed for the able bodied/those with full ability. Sometimes a knife or utensil requires a lot more dexterity than someone may have in their wrist or fingers where a unitasker may let folks substitute strength for dexterity or mobility.

Silicon spatula is a novel invention! Compare it to the spatulas before it, wood and metal. The silicone spatula can be used in non-stick, cast-iron, aluminum, copper, ext. It's completely a novel essential kitchen tool. I would not call it a gadget though.

My citrus juicer is metal and quite heavy so I also use it to tenderize/flatten out meat so it’s a multitasker to me 😂
