We were there last summer in 2022. We have 2 teenagers that are tech and screen addicted but we caught them sitting in the cabin's balcony, staring out into Halong Bay for a good 10 min straight without saying a word, just taking in the beauty. The view from our dining room seeing Halong Bay was no less inspiring. We were hesitant with the cost at first (there were 4 of us for 2 cabins) but within 1 hour, we felt the money was well worth it. The cabin was luxurious and the view from our cabin, our cruise ship, beat many many expensive hotels. The seafood food alone for each meal was easily worth $40-$60 per person here in the US and our cruise ship crew was so nice and friendly, and funny too. It's funny but we felt the same as you, we wish we had signed up for a 3-day 2-night cruise.

We visited Ha Long Bay in October 2022. Great time to visit Vietnam with lower temperatures and humidity. This is a great excursion from Hanoi to get out in nature and away from the city for a couple of days. We visited a floating fishing village on the 2nd day and it was very quiet and beautiful. Don’t miss this part of Vietnam. It’s well worth the time and money.

I think it's important to tell people that because you're in Vietnam you don't have to convince yourself that $320 is a good deal! There are several other cruises with similar amenities (bamboo boat ride, kayaking, all food, tai chi class, squid fishing, balcony room, etc included) for $100-125 per person.

The best time to visit Ha Long is Jan, Feb, March and early April. The weather is very nice, around 15 to 24 degree. Avoid May to August because there are many Vietnamese people will enjoy their Holiday at this time

The best time to visit Ha Long bay is Autumn and Winter to avoid the heat trap of the bay due to too many islands.

We are planning this for next year for my wife’s special b/day, can’t wait, looks amazing, we toured Cambodia/ Vietnam in 2019 but didn’t get beyond Hoi An as it’s so beautiful, but we also found Vietnam very humid which is the part we underestimated, so we need to finish our tour, this includes SaPa, Hanoi, Ha Long Bay. Definitely book the 2 night experience next time. I saw "Sun Kissed Bucket List" used Indochina Junk for their cruise and it looks like an amazing experience. Indochina Junk has their own island so you're away from the crowds and noise. The other cruise that people seem to like is Stella of the Seas.
