In my opinion they missed the best part, Steve spinning out of control on the highway, and then rushing through the gear at cut-off to catch, using the GT40 engine sound over... Killer moment

I think this is fantastic. As times roll on and people get older, the past times fade, and as the youth grow up they have no memory of the actual film. This is a perfect way to get the young uns interested and perhaps they will watch the original film. Keep the memories alive. No harm in that. After all the only thing we can do with our knowledge and memories it on.

1) They didn't use an old Charger because this build was all about the Bullitt car. They did have a 68 Charger on set. It wasn't used.
2) They weren't trying to out do the original chase. They were using only one car here and any mistakes or accidents would stop production.



3) The city did not let them use the Marina Green (Marina Blvd). It would have gridlocked traffic.



4)The final cut doesn't show the torture this 68 FB was put through take after take after take.



5)The car was built to be tortured or possibly destroyed. Of course they used bondo on the car.

The producer was actually in the foot well of Steve McQueen's car filming him in the chase & Steve McQueen turned to him & said the brakes have gone he'd cooked the brakes doing the chase
